Right now the country is broke, I see NIB still trying to give out more free money vouchers, I admire that. I believe its a risk to open but it's also a risk to stay close. The news reported tonight wonderful increases in flights to Nassau in the coming days and weeks, If we do due diligence with those visitors we should be fine. Brave cried fowl on the testing too, but 18 days without a case is extremely good, compared to Florida next door.
The union 2nd area VP pumped them up to come to work yesterday. They storm pass security, some almost 40 from what I counted and met inside a room. The union 2nd area vice president told them that even if the police come they were not moving. The police came and they had to move or be cited trespassing. They moved. It was sickening to me for a leader to tell someone to come to work knowing they still wouldn't be paid. Today they didn't show. The hotel is dead... not one guest, only security. Their rationale was that it was a government hotel and all of the government workers are working. It is alleged that the VP would be running for the PLP in the months ahead. No government or private entity would work people if there is no means to pay them. Perhaps Brave didn't know these facts. He said nothing about Atlantis laying off. They not making any money.
The opposition’s deputy leader yesterday urged the government to borrow up to $2bn to prevent the Bahamian economy’s collapse amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chester Cooper, pictured, the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) shadow minister for finance, told the House of the Assembly that the Minnis administration should “identify borrowing facilities in the area of $1bn to $2bn in this low interest environment in order to shore up the economy” “This can be a combination of direct borrowing, and through public private partnerships (PPPs) for projects that will create much-needed jobs and stimulate the domestic economy,” he added. Noting that the US government has just approved a $2tn stimulus package, Mr Cooper argued that the government “should not scoff” at suggestions The Bahamas needs its own $2bn stimulus package to combat the economic fall-out from COVID19.
We better hope they turn it around or every color ga go down with it. So wish them well, the sea don't recognize colors when the victims are drowning,.
I cross that bridge almost every day, I am grateful to the PLP for having the vision to come up with the idea, as for many years it was a mess. I am also grateful for what is being done now. They removed the asphalt and replace it with Cement. The asphalt was washed away... It was Dr. Darville's idea from the start, a great one.
Well I keep my mind on the global world forecast, I watch Al Jazeera, Channel 404 on the cable... on it all of the world struggles are showcased there. We are fortunate...very fortunate compared to other small nations. But we always do what Bahamians do best, complain...
Perhaps if some of us put politics aside we will see that The prime minister is looking out for the safety of the nation....Nassau is the only island that has a huge number of COVID cases. Perhaps Nassau is at fault for causing other islands not to open... perhaps... we have 8 cases, and our people are behaving in for the most part, but we are still listed along with the capitol.. something is wrong with that.
He is also the PM for the next 2 years.. you all can change that in 2022. He might be there again after that election... But Ill give my vote to Chester, not Brave.
