BP fined a record $20.8 billion for oil spill disaster. BP PLC — the company responsible for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill — will pay a record $20.8 billion to the US government to cover damages caused by the disaster, the Department of Justice announced Monday.Oct 5, 2015
There seem to be a lot of tension here, I am amazed at the trash spoken, as an observer I heard all sides but so far the gov't nor OBAN talked about retracting the deal. Maybe some of you who see everything wrong in the deal need to attend some of these meetings and air your opinion. Buy ya ticket and fly here from Nassau or where ever, cause ya opinion against this wouldn't count on here. This bigger than OBAN, from 2004 and beyond we have been hit by recession, the Hurricanes near wipe this island out. I'm am of the opinion that when the census is taken in 2020 the count will far be less because a number of home folk have taken off, to Nassau, Exuma, Bimini for jobs. Not sure how Bahamians do think, we should wish the best for each other and be positive. As I said before, maybe some noise should be made from you about the BEC mess at Clifton Pier with all that oil spill. OBAN haven't laid the first block as yet, but we done know it is a disaster. Sound just like Bahamian.
So the Minister has reveal a lot of "stuff" that seems unethical, yet Brave and Chester dem making noise about an OBAN deal where the first block hasn't even been laid yet. I expect a response from here on this one. I'll wear my helmet!!

a forensic investigation into Bahamas Power and Light Company unearthed glaring infractions of the tender process, revealing a company owned by the family of Jerome Fitzgerald was awarded a contract for brokerage work despite no participation in the tender process and a recommendation that another entity should be given the approval.
According to an Ernst & Young audit into BPL, in one “egregious” instance, Mr Fitzgerald’s family business, Bahamas Courier & Logistics (BCL), was awarded a contract over Pinder’s Customs Brokerage, a company with the best bid. Mr Fitzgerald was minister of education in the last Christie administration. The electricity provider spent $2,626,001 with BCL since 2012. The audit further found in two separate instances, J S Johnson was the winning contractor in the bidding process for insurance coverage, but both contracts totaling $14,183,159 were ultimately issued to Sunshine Insurance, the company of Franklyn Wilson, a Progressive Liberal Party supporter and financier. BPL also spent $4,592,041 with Penta Industrial Services, the company of PLP Chairman Emeritus Errington “Minky” Isaacs. There was no indication a competitive process of obtaining alternative quotes or competing bids took place. Other contracts approved for entities owned by former Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) board members were also awarded. Works Minister Desmond Bannister made the revelations yesterday in one of five separate communications in Parliament. The audit, he said, identified numerous irregularities in the manner in which the contracts were awarded since 2012, when the PLP took office. The document is dated August 15, 2017.
Its obvious most of us have miss the point. There was 2 signings, the one Krieger signed was the ceremonial or the camera signing, the real signing had taken place a number of days earlier. It seem straight forward to me. The oil refinery will be be some distance away from stat oil, not one lives in that area and its many miles away from our national park. The island is 96 X 17 not like Nassau. Some of us are upset, but I guess we will wait an see if anything changes, I doubt it will.
Those are, in most cases old bills, from the last administration Wilson is talking bout. They just didn't come up, Ask Jerome Fitzgerald, he had them and he met them there from that Garraway Woman in the FNM and she met them there from the last minister who met them there. In reality teachers will always be owed it seems. Its a money issue. Mrs. Wilson will always be the president cause she makes the most noise, and she is a effective leader. Only losers are the children in the schools... losers make criminals. The national grade level is still a D+, I'm waiting to see if it will change under Mr. Lloyd. I doubt it.
One thing I like about court cases, you have to win them. It sounds scary what they are saying but Mr. Munroe has to win that case. If not then they, the plaintiffs , will owe him, so he is a winner all around. Reminds me of Fred Smith hehehe.
I'm still confused on the OBAN matter, there is an office of the Prime Minister here in Freeport, that is where Grand Bahamians go to air their frustrations against the government. To my knowledge it hasn't happen yet. (to my knowledge) I note with a smile Rev C.B Moss and the environmental lady on the news a few days ago ranting about the OBAN project. The back ground of both storied suggest they were in Nassau. My point is this, OBAN will not effect Nassau in any way except to send money into the treasury. In fact I see no other island making noise about the project either, not Bimini, not Abaco, not Exuma, no even Eleuthera or Long Island...As I stated in earlier post. IF they they have a problem with OBAN, we will need to shut down the other two refineries. It would look rather bias to see two refineries operating and a third one can't get a license due to environmental issues and they using the same environment as the other two. Again I agree with most that EIS should have been first. I see BNT also in the vote of no support. I wonder how they feel about the other two refineries, I don't recall a peep from any of them about the other two. There is a video circulating on what's up about the finding of oil in the Bahamas. I don't know if it was seen by any of you here.. I hope its true, but then if it is well, that will be another fire storm
