This is a start, I hope they can now build a detention center there, staffed with marines or immigration officers and keep all that immigration traffic out of Nassau, Inagua is big enough to house such a facility. That will work fine for Cubans and other to be held until they are sent back home. Its much closer to Cuba and Haiti than Nassau is.

I hope the FNM them go straight, cause boy, if the PLP win again I thinks it will be more worst for them. But its is only in the Caribbean it seems no one is prosecuted to a greater extent for corruption. I guess from way back in the days of drugs in the 70's, even with a commission of inquiry, nothing was done. I like what is happening now, expose, and lock up. I can go to bed and sleep peacefully.

Agreed Bana...They keep forgetting about the other 2 other refineries already in GB. I See Brave is brave enough enough to speak out on bad deal now even though its old story. I still remember him as D.P.M a few months ago where was extremely quiet as all sorts of corruption was taking place in his government, same for Chester Cooper. He seem to forget it was his ministry that made the deal to change from BEC to BPL, with the shameful woman Palema Hill at the helm. That was just as bad a deal. Now he is claiming he knows what a bad deal is That's is why I don't get in arguments over politics or parties, waste of time.

Well guys base the argument today, we all will do a DNA government? next election then? or go back to the real PLP deal ahahaha

TigerB says...

We really love our country... blacking listing news is exciting news, investments of OBAN is a Travesty. Why do we get excited about the negativity of our country, may be many of us don't travel.. When you go away they don't see you as red or gold shirt, they only see Bahamian, so when the Bahamas looks bad internationally, you and I look bad. If the PLP was in and this happen they will only see Bahamians, just like when there was those down grades from Standard & Poor and Moody. It affected all shirts, all of us.

The government was wrong in the way it carried out this deal, but from the beginning I look beyond that because of the fact that every big project that involves the environment there is a stink, this is not the last one. And for all those projects that do go against the wishes of the people once they become successful the issue of the environment is soon forgotten. As I stated yesterday, Bimini Bay, statoil, borco, Baha Mar, Freeport City, I'll bet the dredging of Atlantis as well. I think we are missing the whole point here, the government is doing what government does, try to provide jobs for its people. The approach is wrong yes, but their heart is in the right place. Its unfortunate it has turn into a political football field. Me personally I care less if it happens or not and after all this noise I wish they would scrap the project...It will not change my financial position or my lifestyle, but for the sake of the people, bring it on.

I often ask why they even bring then back... they more closer to Haiti then Nassau, work a deal or something with Haiti Govt and just off load them back to Haiti, and blow up the boat

I try not to be political on this but I learn something about governments, the one with the most votes for a motion always win when its time to pass a bill... so no matter what noise the opposition makes the final result will be the same, I have never seen a government withdraw a project. Look at the Pointe, Baha Mar, Bimini Bay, and to bring it closer to home, The Container Port and Bahama Rock...all these had this same argument with the environment...Baha Mar was said to have an owner who was a in the Chinese Triards, The GB Port Authority's Wallace Groves was said to be shady ... plenty noise was made, but the projects is still serving the Bahamian public... many will not agree with this but I'm sure if our opinion could have change anything we wouldn't be on here debating the issue. If the government try to pull out now its law suits, its a binding agreement. It may have been done wrong, the EIS still not complete... but honestly, what can we do til the 5 years is up to change them... then the other set just got kicked out was worthless...... so what DNA now? Nuff said
