Officers are complaining about the man power and resources shortage. One officer told me they can't even get things copied here in Grand Bahama. No surprise as the majority of resources stay in Nassau. The government thinks if crime is controlled in Nassau crime would be down else where but as the records will show that is not the case for Freeport. All off Nassau crime habits are coming to Grand Bahama the question is will they send the manpower and resources to combat it. The murder count may be six in three months, but that projects a total of 24. The year with the 5 missing boys it was 15.
I'm still puzzle as to how a whole sub division could be approved to build there knowing that that is what dump sites do, they burn. One of the reasons it was move from Blue hills was the same problem. They need to look at suing the persons who sole land in that area. Ill bet there will be action then!!
Tal, there is something else i recall, when Nygard came to Freeport, they literally place a red carpet on the ramp for him to walk on. He was given a hero's welcome with every high ranking goverment official shaking his hands, what a difference a day makes!
Thank you as well ..I often watch ZNS news, for what ever reason stories like that one will not make their headlines. Glad this news paper did bring it to light. Now we watch and see who will lie they way outta it
I really get a kick out of the idea that the church was consulted this time, according to Mr. Roberts. Strange thing though... when it was the gambling referendum the church was also consulted and voted against it, not only the church other citizens as well, but in that case the voices of the churches were not heard...huummm. What do you think?
Who is to say if it passes they will implement it...they said if the gambling referendum had fail they would abolish it, but they still went ahead and made it law anyway... heck!! their words have no creditibility!
Paul Thompson said the samiiar words in an editorial yesterday and I wrote in response, but it all boils down to this, the responsibility falls squarely on those who get paid to do a job, no one else. We the tax payers cannot fire the entire police force we have to take cue from the NBA or NFL, the coach always is the fall guy, fire him and take a chance on someone else, its not personal, it never is!...If you hire a maid to clean your house and they are not effective at it, what do you do? You are hired to manage a certain entity and it fails under your leadership what do you do, keep complaining? There has to be change... so we take a chance and see if we get lucky and just loose 140 lives this year as opposed to 149 and then complain more?

I agree Jack.. a junior senator speaking out like that. She needs to put all that energy into attacking issues in the upper chambers.
