It is clear to any objective onlooker that Mr. Davis is not fully recovered from his bout with the Covid-19 virus. Just as it is now emerging From the medical evidence that this virus impacts the most vulnerable part of the anatomy of the infected person, we can see this in Mr Davis’ case where it is impacting on his brain’s functioning.
How in the name of Junkanoo is the Government expected to know everything about this NOVEL virus? We are in what is called a pandemic because it is new and ways to eradicate it unknown.
His mental health issues aside, he is Trying to score cheap political points by asking for the data that our Government uses to keep abreast with this virus And inform its decisions . What a stupid request. There are no data available and what data are available is outdated by the the time they are published.
I wonder if my fellow Bahamians would be less frustrated with the Prime Minister’s Herculean efforts to control this virus when they are advised that France, Italy, Germany as of today are going into mandatory lockdowns immediately? These lockdowns mirror what we are doing in the Bahamas.
And the only data being assessed to justify the lockdowns is the increase in deaths and infections. These are the only data you need Mr. Davis. Are you able to understand this?
Wow. We really have a problem in our society. Look at the response from these marijuana addicted miscreants. They have even gone so far as to disparage the Holy Book. All because of a drug that has been shown to distort the perceptions of the user, contribute to mental anguish, lead to depression and ultimately become a gateway to other harder drugs like cocaine and heroin.
None of these marijuana addicted advocates have answered my question related to why don’t we go about and legalize all drugs including cocaine and heroin?
Come on now let’s get real. You are addicted. You cling at straws in trying to justify your addiction. And you are clearly unwilling to accept the evidence that smoking marijuana distorts your perceptions of reality and makes you seek justification for this sick habit.
Rather than abusing the Commissioner, you should be praising him. Please seek medical help before it is too late.
And for that person who criticized the Word of God please ask for forgiveness ASAP before it’s too late. But then again he/she was probably high on marijuana and had the feeling of being all knowing and all powerful to commit such a sin.
We are in trouble as a nation when so many people demonstrate their addiction to a harmful drug by coming up with rationales from all over the place. And added to these are the invectives and insults against the Police and the Commissioner.
The point is not the value of the drug, the issue at hand, pardon the pun, is the drug itself . Why are you all so fired up about this drug? Clearly you are addicted. This is so unfortunate.
Where do you draw the line? Do you want us to become a lawless society? After marijuana what next? A small packet of cocaine worth $10? Or a bank robber who only steals $100.
Clearly our values are eroding rapidly and our current Government under the exceptional leadership of Dr. Minnis has to do something ASAP before we descend into anarchy.
Mandela you are not too intelligent. It is not a joint versus a drink. So please do not conflate the two. You are rationalizing the use of marijuana and that is unfortunate because as an adult you should be aware that marijuana does not relax you. Marijuana creates fantasies in your mind. Alcohol is no better. Both do not add value to living. They subtract from the quality of life. They are parallel tracks On the slippery slope to poor health . One via damage to the lungs and brain, the other via damage to the liver and kidneys and both to diabetes and premature death.
Relax yourself with a good read of the Bible, a nice walk on the beach, some quality time with your spouse and time in the gym among many, many Legal and fun options for relaxation currently available.
It is clear from your desperate attempt to justify the use of marijuana that you are addicted. Are you able to stop at a joint? Let’s be honest. Do you need help?
This is such a backwards move. At first blush it appears to be progressive and hip. However it will not be long until we are asked to decriminalize cocaine and heroin.
There has not been enough assessments done of the costs and benefits of using this drug which contributes to lethargy, gluttony, debauchery and mental illness to name a few.
Could anyone please let us know what benefits this drug contributes to society? Admit that it is a gateway drug, the use of which leads to the use of other drugs including alcohol, cocaine and heroin, Look at the inner city areas of America and what do you find? Demotivated, uneducated and the criminally inclined People who have lost the enthusiasm for upward mobility. And this proclivity cycles back to reinforce the commonly held view that blacks are lazy.
I am sure you will be surprised to know that marijuana is made easily available in the inner cities in America by the powers that be in order to keep Afro-Americans in a stupor.
And we want this in the Bahamas? Look at what will happen with school achievements .
And in the haste to run with this cool thing no consideration is being given to how the youth will be distracted from its use and abuse.
Wow. If there ever was a hypocritical position presented for public consumption this is the winner. Mr. Davis is stringing together catch phrases, nice sounding positions and easy to spout arguments when he and his comrades have absolutely no idea of the big picture.
This is the kind of politics that we do not need in the Bahamas at this time. Now is not the time to take pot shots at the Government. We need everyone to rally around the Government and collectively come up with the ways and means to handle the pandemic.
What is so disappointing from the barf being vomited by the “leader” of the PLP is that he prattles on about disentangling wealth and access to treatment for this virus when he ran away to the USA to seek treatment for himself because he has the means.
Come on PLP stop your politicking at this critical time in our nation’s history. Please demonstrate your commitment to nation building as opposed to nation destruction.
For the 1,000,000th time, this virus was not as a result of the FNM government’s failing to do something. And do not compare the Bahamaland to Barbados. They are geographically so different that the dynamics of the virus’ transmission make such comparisons akin to comparing ackees to mangoes.
It is very hurtful to read the stupidity posted on this article. Why is it we Bahamians cannot once and for all time come together for our nation’s sake? When one reads these comments it makes one want to cry, not vomit. covid-19 is not the fault of Prime Minister Minnis’ Government. His Government has been dealt a bad hand by circumstances and it is doing its best to contain, control and mitigate the effects of this heretofore unknown disease. Covid-19 control and eradication was not in the FNM’s Manifesto.
However, what was in its Manifesto was to bring the most honest, efficient and prescient Government into force to replace a most dishonest, corrupt and puerile PLP led Government. The Bahamian electorate accepted this commitment and gave the corrupt PLP the short shrift.
Our Government is doing the best it can and continues to do so every single day. It does not need the wounded PLP to sit on the sidelines, chomping at the bits to get their hands back in the public purse, with some pot in their heads, to take puerile pot shots at our Government and our Leader.
I wonder what the likes of Tribanon will say when Prime Minister Minnis is awarded the Nobel Peace prize. They will go mad.
So my point is the Government of the Bahamas cannot do more than what is possible with the limited resources it has at its disposal under the present circumstances.
Isolate yourselves, wash your hands, stop abusing marijuana and alcohol and be cool.
God Bless Prime Minister Minnis and the members of his Cabinet. Long live the FNM.
There Tribanon goes again with his negative view of everything. I am wondering why is it that he chooses to live in our country? It must be for some reason that cannot be found in any other land. Or is it that he is unable to live in any other nation.
The glass is have full. See the positive and look for the best. When last has he read the Bible. When last has he reviewed our nation’s history. We have come a long way in a short time.
Please be positive and see the good. Okay. Thanks.
Whogothere you are talking foolishness. If we don’t clamp down on the behavior of our brothers and sisters, and their children, we will have a catastrophe of unprecedented and unparalleled proportions.
Just when you think we have this thing under control out it jumps with a second and more devastating infection rate.
Look at what is happening in Europe. Why do you think the English, French, Dutch and Spanish, to name a few nations, are reintroducing lockdowns and curfews? It is not to punish individuals, it is to save lives. Okay.
You, Tribanon, TarRussell and their ilk can spew all the foolishness you want but you are unable to escape the reality that facts are facts, statistics are statistics and no amount of political spin can alter them.
Why it so difficult to forego short term inconvenience for long progress?
Please let our P. M. And his Cabinet members do their jobs. They are not reinventing the wheel. God Bless you Prime Minister Minnis.
