He added: “The Government has shown some positive restraint in terms of expenditure. Spending has not increased as much, and that has allowed them to cut the deficit by what we consider a large amount - 3 per cent of GDP.”
so the X Million spent of that Trini fest was ... reallocated? since 'spending' is more or less unchanged? what was that budgetary X million being spent on previously?
VAT is offsetting expense as a new revenue?
"The credit rating agency added that VAT’s initial results suggested that the tax would generate more than the $250 million in net new annual revenues, equal to about 3 per cent of GDP, that the Government had projected."
Debt reduction = VAT revenue = 3%GDP ??
"“Overall, revenues increased over 20 per cent year-over-year according to the Government, and led to an increase in the revenue-to-GDP ratio of 2.8 percentage points to an estimated 20.4 per cent in 2014-2015.”
Ok, first of all Haitians aren't the only people who live in 'shanty towns'. Second, it's good for proponents of such 'raids' know what it feels like to be on the other side of it.
Fact: Freddy's been threatening 'investigations' into people he disagrees with so, it would seem like he's making good on his suggestions.
Fiction: Former ministers are above the law and investigation, and all criminals can be found in shanty towns (or everyone who lives there is a criminal, whatever way you want to put that).
While i can agree with his expressed sentiments, i fear it is just empty talk aimed at gaining the support of the underclass people of this country......... which is what the PLP strategy has been all along, while they step on the same poor people who vote for them
well PLP supporters will believe and side with him no matter if he was saying cats are dogs while he's travelling first-class backwards on the back of a flying pig (while doing the perry shuffle ofcourse).
we've seen proof of PLP loyalty already.
WE expect our leaders to do things based on election positioning.... which says alot..... we SHOULD be expecting them to do what's best for the country...... but I don't see anyone who expects that
