No, there doesn't need to be a convention. I was a delegate at the last one. I voted for several people who didn't win (including for leader) but I said that whoever won, won, and that was who we'd be going into the election with. We've got our team, so let's sail into battle!
The DNA is DOA. They have nothing to build with and with Ingraham out of the picture, no real place in the electorate. They were a protest party, nothing more, and they did little to lay the foundation for them to have their own identity going forward. They got some support as the 'Not-FNM' when they were in power, but with the FNM in opposition, those people will return to the fold.
"In fact, the intent of the plan is to work on a case by case basis with those homeowners who, through job loss or significant reductions in income, are losing their homes," he said."
In other words, if you are a big PLP supporter, the government will help you with your mortgage. If you are just an average person or if, God help you, you are known to have supported the FNM or DNA, you are out of luck.
The idea that King Ping was not a 'one man band' as Christie claims is laughable. Everyone knows that what he said in the PLP was what went. SLOP ruled his party with an iron fist and if anyone objected, they were made to 'get out of the boat'. It's true that Christie has a very different leadership style, but he's gone to the other extreme and he's a wishy-washy ballsless leader who no one respects. Mr. Ingraham seems to have the right balance to me.
