@duppyVAT - indeed. This is the model we should be following. The anchor project strategy was a load of nonsense from the get go. Zero Bahamian ownership, most of the revenue leaving the country, the creation of yet more armies of waiters and janitors. Neo-plantations - that is what those mega-resorts really are.
@Cornel – any delay is a bad delay when you owe your financier 3 billion or whatever it is. Imagine what Sarkis dem paying just to finance the loan. The delay, and the withholding of the road money by gubment is a calculated effort to push Sarkis out, so the Chinese get to run another hotel. Notice that Perry sold them the Hilton, breaking with the 50 year tradition established by Sir Lynden that no foreign government could own Bahamian soil, save for its own embassy. Notice that The US gubment forced Perry dem to give the BEC contract to an American firm, despite Chinese interest. How you think Perry ga pay them for their lost electricity deal? How about a mega resort.....
@birdie - wow. Thank you for your honesty. I hope you will also support a move to have those responsible for this grave error held accountable. Someone needs to lose their job.
@bigbadbob - I saw in an earlier story where the station owners did notice they were losing gas, they claimed that they kept telling Rubis something was wrong, but the company didn't respond for a month. By then 12,000 gallons had leaked.
The kind of bigotry on display here is indeed disgusting. A woman's decision to have a child or many children has absolutely zero bearing on her rights. It does not give people the right to mistreat her. One issue has nothing to do with the other. This is what we always do in this country, whenever a police or immigration officer, or anyone in authority abuses someone, we look for what is wrong with the victim... "She ax for that.." etc. It is a cruel, wrongheaded, backwards way of thinking.
