Nothing but more blowing of plenty hot air by Minnis. All talk and absolutely no action. Why doesn't he give us a weekly update on both the number of illegal Haitian aliens apprehended during the week for deportation and the number actually deported that same week. 'True' Bahamians want and deserve weekly hard facts from Minnis and not just more of his hot air. We need real action, but it seems Minnis is more concerned about exorbitant travel allowances for government officials and their wives so that they can all frolick around the world in lavish style at great expense to honest and hardworking taxpayers.

And just think for a moment. If the corrupt Minnis-led FNM government cannot manage a simple system of frugal policies and procedures for the incurrence and payment/reimbursement of necessary official government-related travel costs, then how on earth can Minnis and his fellow cabinet ministers possibly be properly managing the economic affairs of our entire country.

And @BahamaPundit is right - the optics here could not be worse. The corrupt Minnis-led FNM government is constantly complaining that they do not have the financial resources needed to address all of the very serious shortcomings in our dysfunctional public education system and our failing public healthcare system. Yet they can always find the financial resources for their political elite to travel abroad with their spouses to attend many meaningless conferences and events sponsored by their overly privileged counterparts in other countries and by various international organizations that are choc-a-bloc full of useless globalist bureaucrats.

By increasing the government travel allowances as he has done, Minnis has once again revealed just how arrogant and nasty he really is. Caring for or about the vast majority of Bahamians is at the bottom of his list of priorities, if on the list at all.

> The Government is in “very advanced negotiations” to move the Ministry of Health into two former insurance buildings in the Palmdale area, a Cabinet minister confirmed yesterday.

>Dr Duane Sands, minister of health, told Tribune Business that the former CLICO (Bahamas) property on Mount Royal Avenue and ex-Colina Insurance building on Rosetta Street were being eyed as the ministry’s new locations as it seeks to escape the “10 waterfalls” that occur whenever it rains at its existing Meeting Street premises.

Both of the the very aged buildings Sands is talking about here are way beyond the ability to renovate and should simply be bull-dozed. But here we see our very corrupt Sands being willing for the health ministry (government) to sign long term lease agreements for these essentially worthless properties. Can't help but wonder how overly generous Sands' own 'commission' will be for wasting our hard earned tax dollars on the outrageous rents to be paid under the lease agreements for these two derelict properties.

Giora Israel and Carnival Cruise Lines have been shiiting all over the Bahamian people and poisoning our air with impunity for decades. They should not be given the opportunity to continue doing so knowing that they will add nothing (nada, nada) to our economy but tons and tons of more dumped shiite and smoke stack pollution. Why isn't our gonad-less Minnis telling them to pack their backs and get the hell out of the Bahamas for good?!

LMAO......Why was slime ball James Smith so eager to kiss the butts of the imf, oecd, eu, idb, cdb, fatf, and others while he was cental bank governor and later minister of state for finance? Only Neil Hartnell of The Tribune would give such a slime ball the time of day.

It's Minnis and Turquest who are the toothless tigers. Our country today is being run by the likes of the idb, imf, oecd, eu, Red China's ruthless Xi-led communist regime (Fooking enterprise - Baha Mar, Hutchison Whampoa - Freeport), corporate america (Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Bain Capital - Atlantis), and so on and so on. Minnis and Turnquest now only do as they are told by their various foreign masters who could not care less about the interests of the Bahamian people.

Way too many of them fraudulently obtained one or more official papers that they then wrongfully used to illegally 'buy' their Bahamian citizenship with the assistance of corrupt government officials.

Corrupt governments and their failed economic policies plus their costly burdensome regulations are the primary causative factors behind business failures in the Bahamas. As for City Market, name one business that Tiger Finlayson's son hasn't run into the ground. Remember Solomon's on Bay Street. He ran that long established business into the ground too.
