ditto that, but it would have been a Viking burial on land rather than at sea for the dead souls hidden under the debris

Iram Lewis, like Minnis and Turnquest, need to understand that private property owners can build on their properties wherever located as long as they do so without the expectation of taxpayer support and the buildings comply with all relevant building codes. Government should avoid putting major infrastructure (e.g. electrical transformer stations, etc.) on public lands that are most vulnerable to major storm surges and flooding unless the residents who foolishly choose to build in those areas are willing to pay for such infrasture themselves. That's just common sense because the next Cat 5+ hurricance will be hitting us somewhere in the Bahamas before we know it.

For the same reason you remain bamboozled by Minnis. LMAO

Was this John Bull's shop at Atlantis robbed yet again? For the umpteenth time!

Even wealthier Bahamians and resident foreigners know better than to wear a Rolex watch anywhere in the Bahamas today. You would think by now John Bull would have stopped selling them.

You Sir, clearly have a front cushy seat in the VIP carriage car of the express gravy train operated by the corrupt Minnis-led FNM government.

Notice how the very corrupt Minnis and Bannister do not tell us how much this clean up exercise has cost the taxpayers of the Bahamas. Also absolutely nothing said about recovering any portion of the land clearance costs from the main private owner of the land who for years was collecting rents from many of the shanty town occupants.

Iram Lewis is clueless as to what needs to be done for the longer term. He's much more concerned about steering from within the PM's Office all of the cronyism that Minnis is injecting into government and donor funded post-Dorian recovery projects.

The government need only put taxpayer supported infrastructure where it will least likely be demolished by another Category 5+ hurricane and make sure illegal Haitian aliens are rounded up and deported to Haiti whenever they try to re-establish illegal shanty town settlements. Private property owners in the pre-Dorian Marsh Harbour area should not be given any taxpayer support for the rebuilding of their properties and should be free to rebuild using their own financial resources and at their own financial risk, provided they comply with all of the necessary building code requirements as amended from time to time.

Our government needs to stop the moral hazard associated with giving financial support to private property owners who choose to foolishly rebuild on low-lying seashore land and continue not to carry sufficient (if any) property insurance. Why should the taxpayers in New Providence be taxed to pay for the hurricane related losses or rebuilding efforts of private property owners in Marsh Harbour when it is not in the best interest of our country for a large portion of Marsh Harbour to be located where it was before being demolished by Dorian?

Over 69,000 of the 71,451 cases confirmed worldwide are in Red China as are most of the deaths confirmed to date. U.S. health authorities still believe the ruthless Xi-led communist regime is significantly understating both the number of infected persons and number of deaths in Red China. The percentage of infected persons over the age of 60 who die from the highly infectious coronavirus is frighteningly high.....more than 1 in 10, i.e. more than 10%.

Most of the deaths result from severe pulmonary (breathing) problems and renal (kidney) failure. The human body's most important defense mechanism in fighting such a virus is a high fever, but the coronavirus is proving to be unusually resistent to heat. This also means the coronavirus will be much less inclined to abate when summer comes and could well continue its spread into next year. The conavirus is also four or five times more infectious than the most infectious forms of the flu virus which means it is spreading rapidly to many other countries. It's no longer a question of whether there will be an outbreak on New Providence, but rather when will it happen.

Being a tourist destination we are especially vulnerable to undectable asymptomatic infected carriers arriving by air or sea. At this time the vast majority of such infected carriers will have had contact with other infected persons in Red China or other East Asian countries. Minnis and Sands, both medical doctors, have thus far failed to provide the Bahamian public with specific detailed information of the preparedness measures being taken to ensure the Bahamas has adequate hospital/clinic beds, medical supplies and healthcare personnel available to deal with a major outbreak of the coronavirus. We can ill-afford yet another instance of unpreparedness and chaos of the kind we saw in the immediate aftermath of the Dorian crisis. The Bahamian people need and deserve much more detailed information about the measures being taken by government to address a major outbreak of the coronavirus in the Bahamas.

> Questioned whether the developer has the necessary financing, Mr D’Aguilar said of Mr Ben-Zur: “He definitely, in my opinion, has the business background, experience in the hospitality business, and success as a businessman. In our opinion he possesses the qualities, the attributes that someone wishing to pull off a project like this needs, but only time will tell.”
