That's right Darron Cash. Bahamians should be asking themselves why our corrupt Minnis-led FNM government did not insist that the very ruthless Jaime Gilinski Bacal acquire 100% of our government's shareholding in Bank of The Bahamas in addition to a controlling interest in CIBC's First Caribbean operations in the Bahamas (?!) As the saying goes, why not in for a pound if in for an ounce (?!). LMAO

The union leaders and union members of First Caribbean International Bank (FCIB) in the Bahamas are up against a ruthless billionaire Colombian banker and real estate developer who lives in London and is the son of Lithuanian Jewish immigrants. Like all of the other FCIB union leaders and union members in countries throughout the Caribbean region, they simply don't stand a chance going up against Jaime Gilinski Bacal. Corrupt governments in the Caribbean region were unable to resist the lure of hot drug money from the Latin American drug cartels flooding into the Caribbean region. Allowing CIBC to sell its Bahamas operations to Jaime Gilinski Bacal could easily end up being the biggest stain by far on the legacy of Turnquest and Minnis.

Desmond Bannister, Donovan Moxey, Whitney Heastie and Paul Maynard should all be sharing the same small prison cell.

And just guess who are the local frontmen (muck-a-mucks) for the $30 million smart meter contract that will force BPL's customers to pay-in-advance for electicity at exorbitant (extortionist) rates.

This ridiculous initiative will not identify and do anything about the many businesses and residential customers throughout New Providence who have illegally tapped into BPL's power grid and are receiving the benefit of unbilled "free" electricity at the expense of billed paying customers. These electricity thieves and the politically connected "do-not-disconnect" customers are the real reason why BPL cannot get a handle on its operating costs and soaring receivables.

But rather than address the root cause of BPL's revenue and receivable problems, the simpleton corrupt bastards, i.e. Bannister, Moxey, Heastie and Maynard, would rather enrich one or more of their muck-a-muck crony frontmen with a $30 million pay-in-advance system that is so obviously doomed to failure.

Like Turnquest and Minnis, the four named morons just don't understand that there are no longer enough wealthy Peters left for our Robin Hood government (and BPL) to rob in order to let the Pauls have a "free" ride for political gain. As the old addage goes, you can't draw blood from a dry stone and most of the stones in the Bahamas are already bone dry.

We are swimming backwards.......more are arriving than are being deported....The Minnis-led FNM government is failing to ensure our law enforcement officials adopt a sufficiently aggressive and sustained programme for the weekly deportation of illegal aliens. Without such a programme there will be no hope of deterring Haitian nationals in Northern Haiti from paying the human traffickers for their smuggling services. By now Turnquest must surely realize that each illegal alien deported brings enormous financial relief to the public treasury and the Bahamian people.

By law the vessels seized from foreign fishermen caught poaching in our waters should be sold at public auction at the earliest possible time. And arrangements should be made for the perishable marine products illegally harvested to be quickly processed and packaged for cold storage pending sale at public auction. Law enforcement does not have the ability to give these seized assets to whomever they choose.

The very incompetent Carl Bethel should do all of us Bahamians a big favour and just resign. Why Minnis has not fired him by now says much about Minnis's own incompetence. Frank Smith has already walked free from the corruption charges made against him and the same is about to happen to Shameless Shane Gibson.

The Jamaican QC who represents Smith is now also representing Gibson. In both the Smith case and the Gibson case, the Jamaican QC has all too easily demonstrated the extent to which senior officers and detectives in our police force are grossly unqualified and outrightly incompetent. Our senior police officers and detectives have in fact become the laughing stock of the Caribbean region because they lack the requisite intelligence and training necessary to fulfil their expected duties, especially as regards the handling of critical evidence gathered during an investigation.

The situation is so embarassingly bad that the Jamaican QC holds the view that it would be next to impossible for our enforcement authorities to prevail in getting anyone of financial means with political connections convicted of corruption and fraud charges. In other words, our country's entire very costly law enforcement apparatus is completely ineffective and useless for the purpose of rooting out, investigating, charging, prosecuting and punishing the perpetrators of major corruption and fraud cases where the accused is politically connected and has the financial means to hired someone like the Jamaican QC to defend them.

We have truly become a lawless country as a result of our very dysfunctional hiring and training practices for law enforcement personnel. There are way too many D minus educated and lowly paid law enforcement officials in our country today, many of whom are of Haitian descent - soon to be Nigerian descent. Many of these officials owe their progression through the ranks to either their political connections and time of service alone, as opposed to merit based on the demonstrated possession of requisite core competencies. It seems this sad state of affairs has triggered a policy of hiring from abroad - case in point being the two Nigerians - but apparently even this has been botched on the competency front.

> Mr Maynard said its introduction once the bond issue is placed in early 2020 will mean an end to the practice where bill duckers have been able to rely on friends, family and political connections to avoid disconnection.

Utter BS. The 'do-not-disconnect' directives will never go away as long as the FNM and PLP political parties exist. These corrupt practices are now culturally ingrained into our political system.
