You mean if they don't step up things will get a whole lot worse for the Bahamian people under failed statehood!

We desperately need two or more entirely new political parties. The new parties should carry no baggage in their leadership and administration from either the PLP or FNM parties whose corrupt political elite have destroyed our country's middle class and in the process bankrupted our country.

....ditto that...

Commssion Rolle is little different from his predecessor Ferguson when it comes to sweeping things under the rug.

That's increasingly becoming left open to question!

Perhaps a better question for Minnis and Sands (both medical doctors) is when does their current 'modelling' for the Bahamas now expect that our hospitals, clinics and morgues will be overwhelmed as a result of the Covid-19 crisis that is being used as the reason for shutting down our country? So far we've only had the food stores and pharmacies greatly overwhelmed causing much strife and inconvenience for everyone, especially our more vulnerable senior citizens and the disabled who have no close family support living with them.

At least 2 months ago!

The history of this tragedy will clearly show three huge mistakes were made early on by our elected officials:

1) Airports and seaports were not shutdown much sooner (Minnis and D'Aguilar were too concerned about going without tourists and were unwilling to take the lead in upsetting the cruise ship companies);

2) Minnis and Sands made no effort when the writing was already all over the wall to procure large supplies of testing kits, medical-grade masks, etc. before the demand for these items kicked-in from other countries like the US; and

3) Our government foolishly trusted the misinformation about covid-19 that was originally disseminated by representatives in the Bahamas of the ruthless Xi Jinping communist regime.

The Tribune should now publish a few photos of the exterior and interior of the residence of our ambassador to the US in the DC area.

I'm not talking here about the normal kind of 'giving' most charitable organisations, successful businesses and people of means do. The type of 'giving' I'm talking about would be at a whole new level and for a whole different purpose.

Keep in mind too that the super wealthy has also greatly benefitted over the years from our country having a very regressive tax structure as opposed to a progessive one that would have had them paying their fair share of our country's tax needs. This fact alone would provide ample justification for a wealth tax being imposed on the super wealthy at this dire time. And no, I'm not a communist or socialist, but rather a realist with a sense of fairness. Such a wealth tax would impact me!

P.S. Healthcare professionals and workers actually treating (having direct exposure to) covid-19 patients should be exempt from the pay cuts, but only to the extent they earn less than a certain minimum amount.
