We certainly know which of these two horses The Tribune wants to see cross the finish line first in the next general election. And by the time the next general election race rolls around, I think most Bahamians will pick just about any horse, even a lame one, over Minnis.
The same lawyer or firm, including different lawyers within the same firm, representing both the buyer and seller in any real estate transaction is unethical even in instances where there is the remotest potential for dispute.
Prison is only for poor souls in the private sector who breach orders or protocol, many of whom no longer have a job. The political elite and their wealthy cronies, together with all government employees who are still collecting their full pay and benefits, are not permitted to be imprisoned. Just ask any sitting judge.
Gambling is a most serious addiction that has destroyed the lives of so many individuals and their families. And the web shop owners/operators are very much under-taxed in relation to the harm they cause to our society.
The greedy likes of Sebas Bastian and Craig Flowers would love nothing better than to experience a windfall of profits from all of the government assistance that's now being given to so many by way of direct NIB payments or emergency orders to private sector businesses to defer the receipt of payments they are entitled to eventually receive. Many who are benefiting from all of this assistance are gambling addicts and regular patrons of the web shops.
These gambling addicts who would rather play the numbers than buy food and medicine for themselves and their family members. Minnis should have long ago repealed all of the legislation was wrongfully put in place to 'legalize' the webshops against the wishes of the Bahamian people as expressed in a duly held national referendum before the wrongful 'legalizing' legislation was enacted.
No one wants to work for Rupert Roberts because he doesn't believe in fair pay for a fair day's work, not to mention zippo benefits and now the potential for becoming infected by the daeadly Red China Virus. If Roberts had a conscience he would treat his employees much better and recognize that at a time like this they should be earning additional hazard pay. This is one guy who still has a plantation mentality!
The unfunded pension entitlements for persons employed in the government sector and for the employees of government controlled entities like BPL, have been a colossal problem for decades because the pension plans have all along been unrealistically and ridiculously over-generous, greatly exceeding what would have been available anywhere in the private sector.
I really don't understand how our government can ignore the fact that there are various testing technologies out there for Covid-19 at the moment and not all of them are equally reliable. In fact the CDC is so concerned about the higher than usual level of false positive test results that they are still recommending a person be independently tested at least twice and preferably three times. But those Bahamians and residents of the Bahamas being repatriated back to the Bahamas at the taxpayers expense are being told they need only produce a single negative test result from anywhere they wish to have the test done. Knowing all that I know about this deadly virus I personally wouldn't get on tomorrow's fully packed Bahamasair flight back to the Bahamas under these circumstances. And to think Minnis lays claim to being a medical doctor!
