TTB Good luck trying to find a political slate of candidates who are beyond reproach morally, financially, ethically, and spiritually!!!
The best we can hope for is, morally: trying to live their life in a righteous manner and successfully fighting temptations most of the time, financially: coping with bills with no court cases pending for fraud, ethically: usually honest with only small occasional lapses, and spiritually: seeking The Lord and recognizing self as being a sinner striving to do better!!!!
The standards you set are totally unrealistic!!! The Pope would probably qualify, but unfortunately he does not live in the Bahamas!!.... Bahamian politicians wouldn't qualify this side of eternity!!
Cobalt, wrong again! I am most certainly not "a staunch supporter" of the FNM, nor am I a great fan of HAM, nor do I seek any patronage from any political party!
We are faced with the choice between two deeply flawed parties! I simply believe that at present, the FNM is LESS flawed than the PLP. We all MUST vote, so even if we vote for the lesser of two evils, that still represents a valid choice, and is better than not voting, or wasting a vote on any third party that we know, bearing in mind our history, is doomed to failure.
My other thought when considering a choice between two, less than than perfect, parties is;
when in doubt, vote them out!!...... Politicians are like weeds; we need to pull them up every five years to minimize how deep their political roots grow into the economy, and to prevent the leaders of our government getting too comfortable in the jobs we have given them!!!!
It is good news, and it will be GREAT news if he starts a trend for well qualified, successful, and socially committed, movers and shakers to publicly commit to the FNM, the ONLY possible alternative to the corrupt PLP!!
This issue represents a wonderful opportunity for Mr. Minnis to show what he is made of! As a former Minister of Health he certainly has a unique understanding of how this Ministry is supposed to work!
He must now convince us that he is "a force to be reckoned with"!!
PGC is stuck between a rock and a hard place! He is being widely criticized by members of the PLP, the FNM, other opposition political operatives, and the Bahamian electorate, and he must realize that he has shown himself to be, a "spent force"!
If he were to resign, which simply ain't' going to happen, he would then be made the scapegoat for all of the problems that confront us, and he certainly could not "sail off into the sunset", like most people hope to do when they retire.
He will stay on and try to end his political career on a high note. If Baha Mar is completed and opened, he will take the credit for this, will push through National Health Insurance early in 2016 and will then expect to win the General Election in 2017, (or before), and seek another term, simply because he is addicted to the position of Prime Minister.
Whether or not he succeeds in this quest depends very much on the Opposition! The next election is theirs to lose! Can they unite and become a single cohesive, articulate, visionary and inspiring force? Perhaps!!! But only if they set their individual egos aside and become committed team players!!!
CCA have done their inspection and assessed exactly what THEY think needs to be done to complete the development. The JPLs (Provisional Joint Liquidators) will look at CCA's "to do list" and will compare it with the inspection/assessment/list of complaints provided by Baha Mar.
They will realize, after comparing CCA's list with Baha Mar's list, the root cause of the disagreement between CCA and Sarkis Izmirilian!
Mr. Izmirilian is a perfectionist who wants and expects work of the highest standard in projects he is associated with, however, CCA are typical of Chinese contractors, whose standards are known to be suspect, and whose artisans, craftsmen and supervisory staff are lacking in expertise and pride in their work.
Both Izmirilian and CCA have had plenty time to sit and stew over the Baha MR debacle. Hopefully both will be prepared to compromise on their previous positions when the new round of discussions start.
I sincerely hope that Mr. Izmirilian's knowledge and expertise is deemed to be indispensable by the JPLs and that he can retain his equity in the Baha Mar project!
