The BPL saga continues while consumers suffer. In another daily the new board chairman is committed to continue the course. Looks like the course is complete failure of this entity while the energy crisis grows. This administration is hell bent on plunging our country into total chaos.
RBC strategic move was to minimize face to face transactions and encourage customers to use digital banking...now this. Apparently they haven't updated security as skimming is an old scam. RBC in this country in my opinion was always behind the 8ball tech wise. They are pushing for something which may be mandatory in their global brand but local and regionally they are not prepared. If I was a RBC customer I would move on . And other commercial banks need to tighten up their security. ATM door locks not working, cameras probably not working or data logged etc.
A side note.... these business owners need to stop being so cheap and hire professional security for daily deposits . Stop being careless and idiotic by using employees to make deposits. Not only you encouraging crime, you jeopardizing lives and it is a real nuisance when you go to the bank for simple transactions and these business owners or their employees holding up the line with their daily deposits simply cause they don't want pay for the extra service. Maybe the bank need to reduce their fees for them....LMAO.
Step Two . Relinquishing the cost burden of the Family Island Operations. A factor which has hindered the sale of bpl/bec. Step One has already taken place. The labour cost and the pension issue partially solved. The privatization of BPL/BEC is imminent. My only question is why so secretive? Why isn't this present administration being upfront with the plan? Who are the prinicipal potential investors? How much role does WTO ascension play in all this? Our leaders have always had ths "patronizing" attitude towards us. Only they know best it seems. All they do is discourage dialogue so that they can do as they will, usually for their personal benefit and at the public expense. The Bahamas is really a corrupt place and as long as citizens can burn their AC and watch mind enslaving tv they quite satisfied. Demand more. Peace and God is Great!
Not one specific detail about how this will cut fuel bills and how these fuel bill cuts will definitely translate to lower bills for the consumer. They so crafty in the business section actually talking about increasing the utility bill to fund a debt option. All we will be doing is purchasing more costly electricity from a foreign entity who will wheelbarrow the profits out the country.
Remember he is talking about fuel bill cuts not consumer bill cuts. Two different things.
An interesting story in the international section how Mexico new government intend to end power production deals with foreign companies. Interestingly previous governments deliberately closed power plants and signed deals with foreign companies who in turned provided even more expensive energy. Sounding familiar. Will we ever get to point in this country, one of the supposed wealthiest countries in this region, where we can fix our own problems? What's the use of all these college graduates if their only solutions to problems is to 'let some foreigner do it'.
The UBP as a ruling party was from 1958-67 but the group of white merchants were in the HOA long before that. So to say that the oglicarchy only ruled during those years is a mistruth. They were basically the political and economic force way before the formation of the party. They still had to be "governed" by Britain until 1964 but like most colonies as long as the elected officials were obedient and always put British interests first, they allowed local elected officials to basically do what they saw fit thus the concept of the "Bay Street Boys" existed before the UBP but were one and the same. So they were entrenched and still are entrenched. Colonialism is a serious and strange creature.
Two things it always about money and race. Sir Roland (an obvious oppressor no debate needed) should not be considered a national hero neither should Sir Lynden .In my opinion a national hero should be someone who was at the forefront of selflessly bettering the Bahamas through many obstacles in any aspect of Bahamian life without holding office. I respect Sir Pindling for his achievements as well as the others named but they were elected for those purposes. They was only doing their jobs.
These gentlemen were more men of the times if anything. Check the history of the world at that time for emerging nations. While what happened was a great accomplishment for the majority the world's oppressed were rising up and actually the Bahamas ,as usual, was more of on the tail end of the world revolution. So to call them heroes is a bit iffy in my opinion. The times dictated their actions.
To make career politicians heroes is like putting silk on pigs, they still pigs. Dr.Minnis probably hoping one day yall would stroke his ego and in his twilight years label him a national hero.
This just a sidetrack....man I feeling this 12% ,BPL can't keep the light on and Water and Sewage want more money for inefficient and lackluster services.
