Same old story. Always excuses, plans, and never solutions. Other than to increase fuel surcharge and blame everything⁶ on the other party. Fnm, Plp, no difference. We have had power cuts since the 70s with many businesses pulling out of the Country in the early eighties, because of lack of consistent supply, expense of power, and equipment damage. It is 2024 and not one kw of solar, hydro, or alternate sustainable energy source is being produce for the grid by BPL in New Providence.. 6 years ago Leslie Miller projected that you all a@@ ga sweat. Mine still sweating potcake.
Tried to log in on my gateway to pay a Govt fee. Message is my gateway not working. Went to the Govt agency to pay. Message our system ain't working. This is today Dec 5. They have no clue what is going on. I was told come back tomorrow. Mind you I am trying to pay the government. This place aint real.
My condolences to the family, in this very sad time in their lives, Please clean up your reporting. The police were called in "after the fact". Are you implying they could be called in before the fact????
A losing battle. While I support the efforts of the PM, this will never win in court. Presidents, Congress, the Senate have all tried to fight this madness. To no avail. We need to tighten our controls here to stop illegal weapons from coming in.
Interesting comments.. Do not see where the reference to skin colour is relevant.. One only has to wander through the two major resorts in Nassau to see various nationalities and races of women who are doing exactly what these two were allegedly refused entry for. Never heard about a raid in Bahamar or Atlantis..Go figure.
Quality is a big issue. But cost is the predominate one. Many families are struggling to make ends meet. If Bamsi could fulfill our needs, it may help. But honestly, they fall short. Their quality is average and their prices higher than imports. Government has seen fit to drop prices on most of the greens coming into this country. In part, I think, to our inability to produce sufficient, quality, competitively priced produce ourselves. How is it possible to purchase a local pineapple for 8-10$ when and imported pineapple from Dole costs less than 5$?
I think it is a travesty of justice when the government will bring in 50 nurses from Cubs to work, and laud their training and qualifications, while 17 Bahamian pharmacists who were trained in the same system and university as these nurses, have had their licenses revoked. This was done mind you, under the previous administration, but this is something the New Day government should look into and rectify.
Sounds great in theory. But if there is some secret place to get 6,8,10% interest on your funds, please let us know. Banks are paying minimal or no interest. Investing money is difficult at 100 per month, and our local stock market is risky. The good old days of earning high interest on savings or fixed deposits are done. The banks charge you to keep your money in their accounts, but still have a free hand to rape borrowers with exhorbitant loan interest rates.
The accolades given in your article were well deserved. Pedro was a Bahamian Patriot to the core, and one of the kindest, most intelligent persons, I had the privilege of being friends with. It is admirable that his family continue to carry on his legacy. God bless them all.
It is amusing that a high ranking tourism official make such comments. She may have a valid point, but her time would be better spent advising the government, who have only procured 50,000 of the appx 700,000 doses necessary if our populace is going to receive the two shots required, to get on the same track. Some of those who have received the first shot are due to receive the second shot by end of May. It is doubtful there will be any vaccine available to administer the second shot. They are already talking about "how it is better to wait longer to receive the final dose". At our current rate we will be vaccinating into 2023.
