This government has done more to expose corruption, and ensure those responsible will face the requisite consequences, than any other government in our history. BPL is under investigation. Several staff members have been placed on administrative leave, and charges will be levied if they are warranted. Same is happening at NIB. BOB is under the gun and will face forensic audits, with action taken against those who owe, and those who approved those loans. Leslie Miller has already had payment demanded on his outstanding debt. Our law dictates what will happen to him if he does not pay. Pat Mortimer has been told that the 1.2 million written off by Christie, is back on her bill and she has to pay up now, or face eviction and prosecution. Several board members of the Airport Authority have been sent home because of their involvement in her situation. The Minister of Health has exposed numerous crony contracts, and cancelled most of these. Our MP's have been given three weeks to comply with the public disclosures act. The record may not up to every body's expectations, but a lot has been done in their first month in office. More will come. They deserve a chance to carry out their mandate, and if there is a government that has done more, if anything, to deal with corruption, kindly enlighten me as to who that was, and what they did.
Every one of you appears to think that our Minister of Finance/Deputy Prime Minister is incompetent, incapable, and disappointing. Does anyone have an alternative solution to our financial woes, or are we satisfied to criticize every move that the government makes. We did the same thing to the PLP and it appears that your opinions are, that the newly elected FNM are no better. What is your collective solution to our fiscal woes? Don't just criticize, offer viable alternatives.
I see why your moniker is The Mad Hatter. Richard Lightbourne made statements that were inappropriate, and you have continued in that vein. Women popping out puppies. Is that what humans are to you? How did you side track to Richard in an article that has to do with the country's financial woes? Mad,
Birdie, This is the same man who had the residents of Marathon living in, and drinking from wells, all the while knowing that there had been a massive gasoline spill by Rubis, and that the area was polluted and unsafe to live in. He is also the man of the infamous "begging" emails to Bahamar. You are blind in your unflinching loyalty to the PLP, and will bless them. God may not be so lenient.
This is a fine person to be questioning the financial decisions of the FNM. He owes how much? BOB close to thirty million, bpl?, nib? He should be a multi millionaire by now, having run his businesses for many years without servicing any of his debts. How long has he had Sunburst Paints? No duty; and now he is complaining. He needs to seriously consider his future business options, after his loans are called, and all of his real property seized. Maybe Brice and Leslia will give him a job at Sure Win.
This brother should have been in jail a long time ago. How many breaks is the court going to give him to live up to a ruling that was made several years ago. Average citizen would be sleeping at the Bahamas Correctional Hotel already. Who is protecting him?
As I stated before. Bahamasair as a financial entity is bankrupt. Our government has been subsidizing it's existence for many years at the expense of taxpayers and it is a draw on the country's finances. Time for us to get out of the airline business. Let the large. established, well run airlines provide the international service to the country, and our smaller independent, privately owned companies service the family islands. We are sinking ourselves into a hole, just to say that we have a "National Flag Carrier". Time to change the status quo; rid ourselves of PLP political decisions, and run our country to the benefit of our citizens. Government is not an airline company, electrical company, or garbage company, and the sooner we divest ourselves of these entities, which should be privately run; the better.
From a strict business standpoint, Bahamasair is a losing venture, kept open only by government subsidy. It is one of the drains on our revenue, and for all intents and purposes, is bankrupt. If this was a private business it would have been shut down long ago. I would offer the entire air service in the Bahamas to established airlines. They know what they are doing.
