As stated before, Mr. Albury and his brother, started their Quality Auto Sales business, bringing in only used cars some thirty five years ago. At that time he was the thorn in the side of the big auto companies. Now that he is a big guy, he is complaining about people doing the very same thing that he did to get started. Lets not talk about the Customs deals back then. Hypocrite. A new car today, with interest, and comprehensive insurance is outside the reach of most Bahamians, and can cost as much as a small mortgage on a home. Get real. Government has already restricted the importing of vehicles, by issuing a 10 year age limit on imports. What does he want, a exclusive right to sell cars in the country?
I guess the FNM should just agree with everything the PLP did and not question anything. Right. Don't sell them short on intelligence. They can hold their own in that department. Bahamar needs to be investigated fully, and if there are necessary changes, they should be done. Everyone is talking about Izmirlian and Minnis. Anyone remember the broad TV coverage given to him and Mr. Christie, standing behind the old P/M's office on Cable Beach and surveying jointly, this wonderful thing called Bahamar(this was just prior to the 2012 election). He was their dream boy then, but how quickly things changed. He crawled into bed with them, and got what the duck got.
As far as I know, nobody has been fired. But rather placed on paid vacation leave until audits of their respective departments have been completed. This is a common practice worldwide, and if nothing untoward is revealed during the audit, they have nothing to fear. I would expect this will happen in other areas to be investigated, with the exception perhaps of Bank of the Bahamas, where Paul McQueeny (a PLP) was paid a huge severance package for the mess that he left at the Bank, and he is no longer there to be sent home. He was rewarded, not penalized. That was the way of the previous government.
I expected no less Dr. Sands. It took them four years to open the critical care unit at PMH, which opened under staffed, under equipped, and not properly air conditioned. It took five years to open the Hospital in Marsh Harbour, which for all intents and purposes, is not functioning properly: and these were both projects they met almost completed. They have left your Ministry in a bind, with all sorts of promises, that they knew could not be kept. Your job is going to be difficult, and I wish you well. For our country's sake.
Thisisours, you have hit the nail on the head. He is typical of all union leaders in this country. In it for what they can get. If you don't laugh you'll cry. We seem to have an endless supply of people like this. When one is removed, they are replaced by another, more ambitious, money hungry individual, who could care less about the union members, or the state of the company by which they are employed.
What you say may or may not prove to be accurate. One thing the country knows for certain, though, is that the promises the PLP made for the first 100 days of their last term, were not fulfilled in five years. And we experienced four economic downgrades. It is pretty difficult to perform worse than this.
Same story that was published last week. Same B/S. Union pressure on the government and populice. BPL needs revamping for sure, but not under the guidance of this clown, or his union. Collect the 130 plus million on the a/c's receivable, most of which is from PLP cronies. This will give them some capital to replace the bunker C diesels, that continue to make Snake rich, with some more efficient, less expensive, power sources, which are eco-friendly and less costly to the Bahamian consumer.
Why are you so worried about Izmirlian? We know he got screwed out of millions. If it were you, you would be fighting like hell to get your money back. Me, I am more interested in the Fook arrangement, and in who got their graft out of the deal. If Minnis is able to reveal only that he is leading the PLP by 50 in the 100 sprint. Don't worry Tal, the truth is supposed to set you free, but in this case, I think not.
Tal, The Bahamar deal is still a mystery to all but you. The Courts have the final say on that matter, but no sane thinking person could possibly believe that the FNM will not carefully review what has transpired in the Secret Sealed Deal, and make decisions it deems necessary. The difference is that You and I will know what decisions they make, and not be in the guessing game that Perry and crew left us in.
Perhaps Tal, it would have made you feel better if the FNM had not honoured the PLP's commitment to pay the overtime promised. They are a government that will honour the previous government's obligations, as that is the correct thing to do, particularly in situations such as this. However, do not expect carte blanche adherence to deals that were made which have a detrimental effect on the country or the Bahamian people. Those who engineered such arrangements need to be seeking legal counsel, as many of them will be called to account for their actions. This will be something new for our country, as crookedness has been the order of the day for fifty plus years.
