Please Lord let the rental generators arrive before Christmas. It should be nice and cool by then and will will be casting aspersions as to who ordered them in the first place. Amen
I love the thought process of this announcement. The Government had nothing to do with the problems resulting in the stopping of the project, nor did it interfere with and of the "liquidation process" but they take full credit for putting together this "fantastic deal" in which the Chinese will own everything. There is no way that this hotel can ever be profitable, and service a 3 plus billion dollar debt, so in the end the lender will own the property, which was their goal in the first place.
I sure hope that BPL gets those rental generators real soon. If this thing really opens with our existing electricity structure, what a fiasco that will be. If the Chinese know what is good for them they will ensure that this monstrosity has it's own power plant.
Wake up. Sebas and Craig are already running the country through puppets Perry and Obie. Where doe you think the money will come from for the PLP convention and election campaign?
Banker, are you serious? You are categorizing Bahamians as being lazy and thieves. And this is based on what your "clients" say. This is a terrible indictment of a people based on opinions of probably wealthy expats and the " so called upper class" Bahamians, who don't give a horses a-s about anyone but themselves. I am a Bahamian and take exception to this generalization. It is ludicrous to think that all Haitian, Jamaican and Filipino workers are more industrious and honest than Bahamians. The reality of it is, the majority of these workers are paid slave wages, and most are not enrolled in NIB, Health , or any other benefit plan. The domestic workers also sometime steal (and sometimes perform duties other than housekeeping for the man of the house). Anything to keep a job and get their foot in the Country's door. I have employed a Bahamian gardener and housekeeper for the past eight years, and am quite satisfied in the way they work, and are so convinced of their honesty that they have the keys to my house. Are these the lazy thieves that you speak about? Most wealthy expats think that all Bahamians are beneath their class level, and only socialize with the rich ones because it enhances their chances of staying here, in the land of "lazy thieves". Get real..
If the shoe was on the other foot, the PLP would be protesting and blocking up the roads (Just as the union did, which helped create this problem), demonstrating in Rawson Square, and calling for a General Strike, if the FNM was the government. Shane cannot take chafing about the asinine manner in which his ministry handled this situation, and is using political bantering to try and cover up his ineptitude. He has support from the AG whom I suppose is going to put Sandals in jail. what a joke.
While you formulate this lawsuit, just remember that Sandals does not NEED to be here. They have already put up with more union b/s than any local Bahamian businessman would have. Bear in mind that they are planning to re-open and will rehire employees, who based on performance, deserve to be. Foolish posturing, and threatening, may well make them re-think this decision. The union leaders need to carefully assess their positions on this. No court can force a business to stay open and pay employees, nor will the court pay your salaries.
Unreasonable union demands, poor performance for pay, outlandish utility bills for inconsistent service, high crime rate, overall high cost of doing business in the Bahamas, cheaper alternative touristic destinations in the Caribbean. Where do you think this is taking our country, and in particular our Number 1 (maybe number two, because the legal lotto/numbers house ares quickly taking over) industry? Down the tubes.
