Great points! Also with the financial state of the Bahamas at the present time, how do they justify spending a million dollars on entertainment. If I'm uniformed and don't realize that this investment brings in profit then I misspoke. That isn't the case or so that's not what is usually reported after the events.
Your already paying income tax. It has other titles. It's not collected in the way that the US does it, but your paying maybe a higher percentage than we pay. I don't have a problem with a fair income tax system. We have a lot of amenities that our government provides for us. It pays our police, it maintains our roads, social security supports us as we age or become disabled. If you become unemployed you may get unemployment and food stamps. There are tons of things that the government does for us. Somebody has to pay for these things.
Corruption in every corner you look. Greed while the unemployed have their utilities cut off. I wouldn't want to be these people on judgement day. They will get what they deserve. Even in this life karma is real. Money acquired at the expense of others will not make you rich. It may be health, unhappiness, losses that money just can't fix. Money can't buy health or happiness.
Somebody's hand was caught with their hand in the cookie jar! The guilty scream the loudest. You know the best way to keep control is to keep the people down. Unemployed, no money, your hands are tied. Then your stuck and they can do what they want to do.
Did the Hurricane Damage to Freeport cause these losses? Freeport was the place to go in the 70's and 80's. The island is so beautiful still. I've been lately. It seemed like a ghost town. When the cruise ships came in you saw a few people, but overall it just felt lonely. The Bahamian people were great with hospitality and encouraging your return. This Island could be a major tourist attraction again. I remember my mom and I walked all over this Island late 70's. Out to 8 mile rock, all of the beaches and fishing docks. We were always welcomed and looked out for by the locals. We would buy our fish off of boats coming in. Boiled Fish is my favorite breakfast. Which isn't made here in the states. I miss so many things about the Bahamas and Freeport is a big part of those memories. It breaks my heart to see the people suffering. Please help these people and put Freeport back into the vacation plans of many.
What amazes me is how Government Officials throw around numbers like 8 million, 32 million that they say they gave or spent on a project. If so they need to go to a money management course. You give me 8 million to help the local economy or like clean up for these vendors and see what I can do. I hope the money is well used, let me know if you see major projects completed after this help. It's the same way in the States, they'll say they invested millions and in whatever. What did they do? I hope I'm wrong and the money is well spent. It's like buying a new car and they say it's 20,000 then you go to sign the papers and it's 24,000. What about that other 4,000 dollars they act like it's nothing. It's a lot in a budget. They talk in the millions, do you know how much money that is.
You are confused TalRussell, Jesus really. After everything that Jesus endured you think he would give into government corruption. Read more of your Bible. Money was not of concern to Jesus. He was always in favor of the less fortunate, and was a giving and compassionate man.
I remember when Freeport was the place to go. The Holiday Inn was a happening place. Somebody needs to do something. It's still beautiful but no one is there. Right now the tourists wouldn't even have a place to stay.
