This is a joke, right? Is this man serious, is he doing drugs? So now they are using public funds, our money to pay vendors because they did not make money at BJC. Who is putting crack in this mans food? This is beyond ridiculous and tells me that for all the hype BJC was indeed a failure if the vendors need to be paid at the end of the day. How they can say that BJC created all this economic activity and then say the vendors did so bad they have to be given back their stall fee's AND given a money for their losses. This stinks to high heaven. What a waste of money The Bahamas does not have!
The saddest part of this whole story is you have those that will eat up this man's words and praise him for his hogwash. Sadly we have many persons that are sheep to the slaughter. They do not question nor do they study or investigate, they just believe (no pun intended). These are the ones that also are more than likely to be part of the crony/friend/lovers system of governance. They are spineless, self serving, lecherous, and would wither and die if not for political patronage. These are the true traitors of the Nation.
The PLP is a socialist government that wants all Bahamians to be dependent on them. Therefore they (wrongly) believe that the more the people depend on them the longer they will stay in power. What they fail to realize is the people do not want to have to suck up to yet another master in order to live a decent life. Big government and socialism do not work and eat themselves from the inside. the Bahamian people do not need a "big brother", what they need in the words of Theodor Roosevelt is a "square deal". We want a government that works for ALL Bahamians not just the party insiders/friends/family/lovers of whoever is in power. Maybe the PLP should think about this because it is certain such a prospect has been way out of their collective mindset for the last 40 odd years.
Crime is killing this country. Do not be childish and think the world is not aware of the problem the Bahamas has with crime. Daily there are news flashes concerning some sort of crime in the Bahamas, stolen boats, rape, murder, theft, this is what the Bahamas is becoming known for, not sun, sand, and sea.
All this says to me is there are more than 4000 family's that can not support themselves. In a country of 350,000 people this is far to many that need help just to eat. The state of our economy is deplorable and the fact is there are no job prospects out there. No matter what the political stooges say, we are in deep trouble.
As much as these PLP's would like to rewrite history there are those that know better and will tell the truth. slop was the original destroyer when it comes to Eleuthera, no amount of story's or lie's will ever change that FACT. The other legacy that SLOP left the Bahamas is corruption and drug smuggling, the world knows this and no matter what it will ALWAYS be known. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline…
How about if Government does not do as it said it would, pay down our debt, we stop paying VAT? If the government does not do as it said then they have committed FRAUD. They will have lied to the Bahamian people and therefore we must have recourse. Is there a way to sue the government? There must be some way to hold them to their word.
The people that write for newspapers in this country are not fool enough to "dig" into a story. They know that victimization and political goons are still alive and well in The Bahamas. With the amounts of money these politicians are receiving and the added "benefit's" these corrupt, immoral, unethical, greed bags, will do whatever is necessary to stay in power. It is a very dangerous game to expose them, and the reporters know this. Political party's in the Bahamas are our organized crime rackets, they protect one another, have a code of silence, have secret membership, and it is all about the money. Cross them at your peril.

Why oh why do Bahamians put up with politicians who make everything political. Maybe MICAL is starting to get buyers remorse?
