The contract will go to a croney that knows nothing and will have to subcontract another company to do the work. For good measure some crown land will be thrown into the mix just to make sure the votes are there for the next election. Bahamians as usual will get billed twice and the project will have to be redone because they did not think to include bathrooms or a fire escape. It will be par for the course, politicians and croneys will be happy and every other Bahamian will get ripped off per usual. Nothing to see here move along!
Come on Doc, the simple answer is "it's all about the Votes, the votes". 15 doctors just out of school might account for 20-25 votes while the retires and carnival croneys will account for thousands of votes. Do the math, the political elite are about votes and retaining power so they can enrich themselves and their ilk. It's all about the votes, the votes! The few will benefit as usual while the country as a whole gets a kick in the teeth, that's how the political elite roll!
Agreed, Mr. Fizgerald is to be commended for broaching the subject. Also agreed on the subject of the teachers. I was appalled when listening to some teachers, they honestly do not even speak proper English. How in the hell can you be a teacher if you can only speak Bahamian slang, disgraceful. I sincerely hope that they sort the education crisis out in this country as if not our youth stand little to no chance in the world or even the country today. One thing they could start with is trying to teach their students how to walk on the side of the road, basics count!
The only two sectors of The Bahamas that have reaped the benefits of an uneducated population is the political elite and the church. The political elite have been able to swing uneducated people into voting them into office time and time again when any educated person would have thrown them out with the dirty bath water long ago. The church has been a parasite upon these same uneducated people, sucking money out of them as a tick sucks blood from a dog. Is there any wonder that both of these organizations have done nothing to enlighten the average Bahamian, it would end their reign over the country!
The simple fact of the matter is the man did not and does not have permits to do what he has done. I personally saw the dredge and the bulldozer working the property. If any Bahamian feels that someone can come to our country and break our laws and get a free pass because they sponsor a couple things, they need to have their head examined. Are we a nation for sale? Can a wealthy person "buy" what they want? Where does it end? Is this a nation that upholds the laws of the land for all, or are those laws just for a few? What this says about The Bahamas is disgusting and perverse. Birdie, even you can not be so blinded by politics not to be able to understand the implications of this situation.
Sadly I must agree with CDMortimer and themessenger, The government of The Bahamas has been an utter and complete failure since independence. Sheer hate, greed, cronyisum, corruption, and petty politics has been the order of the day. The Bahamas has regressed instead of progressed in so many ways. Onward, upward, together, seems only to apply to the political elite, to hell with the common Bahamian.
Birdie, you would do yourself a favor by pulling your head out of the asshole of the PLP and taking a breath of fresh air. Some thought Hitler was the next coming and we know what that brought about, step back and take a breath.
The migration has just started. Those that can are on the move. The Bahamas is going backwards. The politicians have destroyed a once thriving country.
Duppy - The politicians and their crony's are the main problem with the entire Bahamas. You think if we had an honest, accountable, transparent, government system we would have 1/4 the problems we have today??? Not a chance! The politicians and their crony's are the disease that is eating away at our country.
What she should have said, and what we all know already, is that "We are trying to figure out how to sweep this under the carpet." The devil is alive and well in our politicians and their crony's!
