The statement is correct but also does not follow through with the sad FACT that corruption is rife in The Bahamas. The only ones that are happy in The Bahamas are the politician, his friends and lovers, and the political croneys. Accountability, ethics, morals, honesty, transparency are all foreign words to the political elite. This country has been mismanaged and degraded over the last 40 odd years, one wonders what if anything our leaders have to be proud of? The Bahamas is just another failed ex colony of the British that has proven itself to be incapable of having a fair, balanced, honest, and transparent government for all of it's people!
Of course he is optimistic about VAT, the government really has nothing to do with the collecting of the tax. In other words the weakest link has been removed. The government of The Bahamas is a failure and a bad joke.
All they have to do is ask the American's. Why would it be in their interest to withhold this information. While they are at it they can tell us who was involved with Carlos Leader and Normans Cay. They probably have so much information it would cause a revolution in this corrupt little country! So maybe on the other hand it is in their interest to withhold the information. The thing is Bahamians are getting fed up and very angry as it is so maybe open pandoras box before it gets out of hand.
What a farce! All politicians in the Bahamas belong to a club (The Bahamian Mafia), they will never expose one of their own! There will be a bunch of noise in the market but the price of fish will be exactly the same. The people will continue to be extorted by this club.
Also if the defense force is costing the Bahamian people so much they better get the lead out and give us some return on investment! The poachers are out there while the defense force sits at the dock for Christmas doing nothing. All four new boats in Nassau harbour, you think the Dominicans don't know that?
Do these idiots in government know that the country is broke and the taxpayer is overburdened as it is. They spend like there is no tomorrow and want the people to foot the bill. They better start to understand that sooner or later there will be push back if they do not start to cut back (like everyone else), stop the wastage and be fiscally prudent. Money is in short supply you dumb asses, act like it and spend accordingly!
What would you expect from the lackluster government we have? All of them from the civil servant to the P.M. should hang their heads in shame. This tax is to support the bloated government and yet they can not even get that right. What a bunch of slack ass losers!
When you have an angry, undereducated, population that feels it is getting swung by it's leaders what do you expect. Most Bahamians feel that they are used and abused by the system. Taxation without representation comes to mind. The political elite seem to be the only happy ones out there these days. The people need to feel they stand a chance in this country if they work hard but sadly it's more about who you know than what you know. This country on it's present course is headed for major problems. A word to the supposed leaders (who we all know are corrupt and looking out for themselves) you are the ones that need to shape up, in a major way!
