http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline… He also could operate on that island because he bought the government, correct?

Precisely. He operated on the island from the beginning because he had the blessing of the Bahamian government. They were funneling tons of money, and don't ask me dollar amounts, because I was not active with him them. I knew of his operation. I didn't know in those days, I didn't know precisely how much money he was paying the Bahamian government. But the First Family of the Bahamian government was getting lots of money--not only through Carlos' pockets, but through a fund created by the cartel, by the Ochoas, by the Escobars, by the Gachas. They joined in money funding for the Bahamian government and other governments to be on retainer, and always fed moneywise in the eventuality of anything happening.

The Bahamian government gave Carlos a promise. We will advise you. You will get a wink from us, a signal, when things are getting too hot and you need to move out of there. So, you might lose the island, but you and your people will be safe. We'll tell you when to get out of there. And they believed in their promise and they lived day after day and they partied like in heaven because they knew that nothing was going to happen. There was going to be a phone call and we're going to get out of here on time. That was the foundation of, it's going to be okay. We can be wild, we can be loud and we can be seen. We are not going to be touched because whatever happens, if the DEA is coming towards us, they are going to find an empty island and that's how it happened. They did.

Yinna listening to the noise in the market but not paying attention to the price of the fish. It does not matter that what one thinks of The Wilsons business dealings, The government is supposed to be beyond reproach. They are the ones that make and administer the rule of law in this country. If The government will not obey it's own laws and just takes people property with no compensation there will be in effect no rule of law. Are we to be a socialist state where it is all governments to do with as it pleases. Your property can be taken at a whim? Lets see how that works out for everyone!

Red or yellow they are all the same and will look out for one another. The COP is a political appointee who will do nothing in order to protect his job. the people of The Bahamas are the only ones that suffer but sadly most do not care or understand that they are being swung from up high. Quality of life in this country has declined to the point that most would leave given half a chance, sun sand and sea are not worth the negatives we deal with daily. Corruption is blatant and rife in this festering slop bucket of a country. Take a look at any negative and it can place most of it's roots in corruption. Corruption is so ingrained in The Bahamas that people do not equate many corrupt practices with corruption. Want a drivers License, you can buy that. Before the courts, things can happen for the right price. You name it, in The Bahamas, if you have the money, you are good to go. There is no rule of law. The political elite can do as they please and the little man see's this and say's, "why not me as well". Until this country matures and starts to exercise the rule of law for one and all, corruption will be king and the country as a whole will suffer. we are on the brink yet our supposed leaders are so blind they are already stepping over the edge.

The government has no idea what they have, how much they spend, or how much it is owed. I submit that after 40 odd years of mismanagement The true national debt is closer to 7=8 billion. There are so many things that they do not put on the books to make the books look better than they really are. Take the civil service pensions, is that on the books? What about tall the money they owe for taking private land? The list goes on. This country has been systematicly destroyed by a political elite who care more for their own enrichment and that of their croneis than the country itself. These same political elite have conspired to keep the masses undereducated, have corrupted the rule of law, ignored and broken the very laws they make and drained the public purse. Until we as a people come to grips with the massive wrong that has been done to the Bahamas by this small group of persons and rid ourselves of such traitors this country is doomed to failure.

The government of The Bahamas is a sham and a total failure. These idiots do not even follow and uphold the very laws that THEY make. This is what happens when you elect people that have no clue what they are doing except enriching themselves and their croney's. Add tribal politics to the mix and you get a fast failing country such as The Bahamas. The path this country is on will lead to ruin!

Movie tickets are not price controlled. Galleria could have put the price up to $20.00 a ticket and the morons at price control can make all the noise they want but they can do nothing. Stop making noise as if you are relevant and go back to your nasty office and gossip and eat and do whatever it is that useless civil servants do. Stop wasting The Bahamian peoples time, you already waste our MONEY!

This is what happens when you have an undereducated civil service. They have no idea what they are doing or how to go about doing it. I would bet that 8 out of every 10 government employee's are not qualified to do their job. That goes from the P.M. down to the janitor. The outright ignorance that one encounters day to day in this country is astounding. If the youth are the future of a country, I submit, The Bahamas future is grim at best! The exodus has started.

It is a fact that corruption is rife in The Bahamas. It is also a fact that nothing will ever be done to stamp it out. There is NO accountability in this crooked little country. As such The Bahamas will continue to have unacceptable crime, an undereducated population, massive national debt. and a basic degradation of quality of life. The leaders of this country have no idea what they are doing and will only react when the situation is beyond repair. Think of what your children will be dealing with in 50 years. What a pathetic situation!

However Vat is displayed and collected does not matter in the least as the money will still be wasted, mismanaged, and outright stolen. The Bahamian people will still be kept in the dark by a self serving, inept, and corrupt government with no reduction of our debt. The Government of The Bahamas is a total and complete failure. We are just another failed ex-colony that has proven unable to govern ourselves in a manner that propels the country and it's people in a fair, honest, and uplifting manner for all.

The pilots cost the nation pretty much a million dollars and untold bad publicity at a time when the Bahamas is broke. Only in the civil service would one still have a job. Those that work for government should have to suffer real world consequences for holding the entire nation hostage through their actions. As a taxpayer i am disgusted that my hard earned money is extorted from me to pay idiots like these pilots when it should be going towards something that may pay a dividend in the future such as education. Maybe if Bahamasair was profitable these slugs would have an argument but guess what you losers, without MY tax dollars you would not even have a job so shut up and do that job9and be thankful you have a job) or carry your hip!
