From the Viking Series on Netflix, Power attracts the Worst and Corrupts the Best. We see this in our Bahamian Politics when the power goes to one’s head. You hear,”Do you know who I am”? They once walked among us until they get in those BMW’s and Mercedes. Then, you have to make an appointment. We treat them like kings and Queens. They come late and get a proclamation that they have arrived. We have to wait , then stand up for the lot of the clowns.
Another problem is the taxi cab, limousines at the airport. Civilized countries have designated spaces at airports for you to be picked up. What happened here? We backward or what? The taxis and limos need to stay on the left side of the pick up lanes. Let the travelers walk across the crossing and get in the vehicles on the l ftside. The right side used to be for resident pickup. Now, the taxis and limos want to use the left and right lanes for themselves leaving residents waiting 20-30 minutes to pick up loved ones. This is wrong . The taxi and limos service need to stay in their space. The Airport Authority needs to deal with them . They have prime parking and pickup downtown and all hotels , everyone else has to find parking elsewhere.
What happened to the ministry of works, or the ministry of tourism? Does this not fall under their responsibility? The beautification of the island should be under their ministry of tourism because it directly affects their ministry. Nonetheless, this is a problem all over the island. Do you need a permit or a license to put up a billboard? Do you pay any government agency to put one up? I am not sure. The billboards have destroyed views all around the island. At the light on independence drive and marathon there are hundreds of large billboards. Man listen, move them please. Bahamas seems to have an exclusive space to the large billboard on Goodman Bay Beach. They advertise for months AFTER the event has occurred. That should not happed. After an event, the billboard is now trash and you are now littering. They should get fined for that. The roundabout on west bay and Westridge , the super value parking lot, has large billboards that should come down. Those billboards need to be contained at a certain size. They seem to be trying to outdo the others.
Every leader potentially knew what was going on, but chose to turn their head. The Cuban Doctors and Nurses did not negotiate their salaries, their government did. They were not in control of the situation. Can you imagine , you better work for us , we will get 80% of your salary. If you defect to the United States, your family in Cuba will be affected. What do you do? If you go to the states, your family is targeted. So, what do you do? You go to the Bahamas and work . You take home 80% and shut up. Sounds like slavery to me . But, a layman can see and our politicians can not.
Let’s not talk about the fights that occur there or how fellas make females feel so uncomfortable as they walk pass a group of them. You would think you were at Junkanoo where it is normal practice to gawk and fondle girls as they walk pass.
It is free market. Cable Bahamas Batelco, BEC and Water and sewage are pathetic companies that should be closed down Oh, don’t forget Bahamas Air. All pathetic companies with a poor product and P… Poor service. The Private Banks ….. a close Second.
The Doctors cannot and have to get what their government agreed upon. Think about it for a sec. They make the same as their counterparts in Cuba. It is a communist country so all Doctors make the same. The Bahamian /Cuban Doctors cannot defect because their families are in Cuba and will face repercussions if they defect and try to stay in the Bahamas or go to the states. It is not clear cut as one would imagine.
Wow, now the truth comes out. This was truly a no-brainer. The PM said, the government pays an agency and the agency does whatever. Man , listen. Anyone can see the writing on the wall . A layman could have listened to the PM and assumed he was playing dumb. Come on, man!! This is slave labour. Everyone criticized The Republican Party about their observation. Slave labour, that is what it is, plain and simple.
Ok, I can see the future…. In Track, Jamaica 1st, Trinidad 2nd, and The Bahamas 3rd. In swimming, Bahamas 1st, Jamaica 2nd , and Trinidad 3rd. Let’s move on.
