There is a saying that a little learning is a dangerous thing. If you read the posts by john then the truth of this saying becomes apparent. john is obviously a blind supporter of the political party that lost the last election. john also has some problems accepting that Bahamians come in different hues. He might well be the same person who posts under the birdiestrachan handle as the posts have a similar xenophobic and anti FNM constancy. Like the disbarred lawyer who regularly writes long self-serving letters to the dailies, john is best ignored.
Like a church the PLP is a political party that is most comfortable enjoying the blind faith of its followers. Reasoned dissent or individual thinking is to be crushed. You must believe that Swindling Pindling was sent by God and so could do no wrong. Unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people who all get to vote and many of them know no better than to support the PLP because they cannot see through the lies and false promises made on the election trail.
Perhaps Fweddy could recommend a lawyer who would be stupid enough to take this case without the 440,000retainer. Hang on, Fweddy is a lawyer, isn't he? Problem solved Fweddy will take the case and earn these ex fiscal prasites lots of free money from the government. I will watch for future developments with bated breath.
The problem with particular act is that the government will change at some point. Time will tell if we can trust Dr. Minnis and his cabinet but we know we cannot trust ex leaders like swindling pPndling and Corrupt Christie. In order to balance out decades of deficit spending the country will have to go through a period of very restricted government spending. This will hurt and an uneducated electorate will blame the current rather than previous government. BOB may be bailed out by then and the new government, elected by a people tired of tough economic times, can then extend unrepayable , unsecured loans of millions to their minions once again. History tends to repeat itself unless action is taken to prevent it happening. Bailing out BOB will facilitate rather than prevent this.
What a brilliant idea. Lets make this emerging sector of the economy less viable and more expensive for the consumers. Lets hire another department of fiscal parasites, sorry I mean civil servants, to oversee the whole thing and discover who is not complying so we can take them to court and punish them. Lets make sure those home owning foreigners can not easily make any money from renting to people who otherwise would not visit our country, they will just have to find the money to upkeep their homes and pay the real property tax somewhere else. We have stupid and greedy people running this country, running it right into the ground it sometimes seems.
business owners tend to be practical people. They are in business to make money not to make friends. Getting a work permit for an expatriate employee is a thoroughly unpleasant experience which costs time and money, not to mention the frustration of having to interact with the fiscal parasites employed at the Immigration Department. The only reason to hire a non-Bahamian is that he or she is so much more productive or honest or skilled that it is worth going through all the trouble, Revamping the labour Exchange will not change the low quality work ethic and sense of entitlement that pervades the labour force in the Bahamas.
