The Carnival was to be one of Perry Christie's legacies. Christie had a reverse Midas touch. Everything he touched turned not to gold but to human waste product. The carnival should be placed in a coffin, the lid nailed firmly shut, and buried deeply alongside everything else that this leader of a corrupt government attempted.
The police commissioner promises us that the police will double down on efforts to reduce crime. Yawn, Haven't we heard this many times before? And what does it mean anyway? Were their previous efforts only half-hearted? Yawn again.
Hey Séance, I think you will find if you care to explore that thing called history that Americans were actually the last slave masters as the British Navy, after the abolition of slavery in the Empire, spent many years intercepting American slave ships and landing the freed slaves on New Providence. Fox Hill' Adelaide;' settlements of Africans freed by the British from slave ships. Many of todays Afro-Bahamian families' descendants actually owe a debt of gratitude to the British. Surprising, isn't it? Schools should teach the whole truth or as much of it as is available and not just the politically expedient stuff. The Bahamas is a great country to live in, partly because our disparate races rub along pretty well together with mutual respect and affection. Or am I mistaken in this belief?
This is good leadership, showing cabinet ministers may have government supplied car and some a driver too, but they are still subject yo the law. Almost as good as Swindling Pindling being the first to declare his assets, shame that he lied about his sources of income though.
Yeah, great idea, John, let's try it....but let me emigrate to some other country first.. I do not want to go hungry when we have no foreign reserves left to pay for our imported food. That should be in about 8 months time without international support.
