Foreign investors are asked by government officials to pay-to-play also. Often times it is an egregious demand for $10,000 or subtler things like making a donation to some fake cause that goes into their pockets.

One invisible strike against him, is that he is a Catholic. Doesn't go over well with the PLP religionists who support the PLP and honour Mammon, and drive Bentleys, and get pranged in private jets when they hit the crane in Freeport.

I am surprised that no one has trotted out the old chestnut that Fred is of Haitian descent.

Funnily enough, you see this all of the time. We Bahamians don't like it when other Bahamians or foreigners hold up a mirror for us to see our faults. We like killing the messenger for exposing tings that we think are deep dark secrets that no one knows anything about.

Enlightenment is pretty hard to come by in the Bahamas.
