I really don't think that Symonette joined Christie's corrupt charade. I think that Symonette looked into the future and saw his cozy financial situation slipsliding away.

How much is Hot Mix owed? That is one of his. How much did he carry on Fast Ferry? I think he has a hand in Bahamas Fire -- the welding company. I think that he stands to lose a bundle.

The reason that he speaks out now, is because it PGC knew about it, Symonette would have known about it minutes later. That is how porous the cabinet room is.

Brent too, can see it all slipping away for himself and his enormously wealthy empire of family businesses. With the economic demise of the Bahamas, it will take down Brent's bank account as well.

Brent should understand that business is business. I am sure that he has business dealerings in the past that don't stand up to the scrutiny and moral judgement that he is making on Baha Mar.

By any touchstone, Baha Mar was just a business. It is us Bahamians and specifically the PLP and Perry Christie who imbued it with the magical powers to save our economy, provide jobs and create economic activity. It was the lazy man's way to curing the economic ills, so we saw in it, something more than it is -- a bunch of promoters trying to get a business idea off the ground.

Izmirlians knew that Christie and Company were in the pockets of the Chinese and sleeping with the enemy (well Fred was anyway). So it was very prudent on his part to save the business for the Bahamian economy, not to tell the enemy.

Mistah Salt is playing politics here. It is Christie who is showing disrespect to the Bahamas, and not Izmirlian. This is the first public indication that Sarkis Izmirlian is not a total business dunce as was previously suspected -- although the jury is ultimately still out.

It won't work that way. 20% of all visitors are impulse. An impulse trip won't involve getting on a plane twice with all of the hassle and airports and baggage and such. An impulse trip is one destination for a short duration. We will lose those.

Piggybacking never works. There is so much to see in Cuba that you don't want to waste time in Nassau with nothing to see. They have so much more, from a major metropolis, to the music, to the vintage cars, and you can go to the mountains, or freshwater bass fishing, or pheasant hunting. You can take a coffee tour, an architecture tour, a church tour or a cigar factory tour. You can take a liquor tour, and buy genuine, not made in China souvenirs. There is a vast cultural tapestry to explore. Hispanic culture is rich in music, food, dance, costumes and ephemera. Nassau is so Americanized, that it is like a visiting a dirty Miami parking lot that isn't safe.

There is no way that we can ride this wave. We have nothing unique to offer the tourists any more, and that is why the majority do not even get off the cruise ship when it docks here. There is a distinct possibility that the cruise ships will bypass Nassau all together. We try to milk them dry in landing fees, and Cuba won't. We are in serious trouble.

It's a knee jerk reaction by PLP partisans. When the evidence of PLP perfidy is so self-evident that even a partisan child can see it, it strikes them to the core of their belief system, so they have to lash out at anything else but their beloved, putrid PLP, and the only other game in town is the FNM.

The reason for this, according to a study by Duke University, stems from an inferiority complex about their core beliefs. Rather than re-examining and shifting those core beliefs, which is stress-causing and actually hard work, they would rather lie to themselves, and vociferously defend something that they know in their heart of all hearts, is wrong. It is what the PLP want -- don't believe what your eyes and your reason tell you -- believe what we tell you. And the amazing part, is that the sheeple do ! !

It little things that grow bigger and bigger until they take on a life of their own, and reap bad consequences. Even in nature, a tiny rock on a mountain is washed out by rain. Rain water drips into the cavity and dissolves minerals following the veins until year later, the entire side of the mountain comes down.

For World War I, the tiny event that triggered the war was a young student assassinating Archduke Ferdinand in Serbia. That event triggered a world at war. There are many, many examples in history.

I am wondering if this event will initiate a series of events that leads to economic failure, and then a failure of state coupled to anarchy and rampant crime like Jamaica experienced, where entire neighbourhoods were not controlled by police.

From my experience, I have seen nothing but decline in almost every measure of human development in Nassau in the past twenty years, and lately, the decline is increasing at a furious rate.

The lifting of the economic embargo, currently resisted by Republicans will happen soon. And you are right, it will be an economic tsunami for the Bahamas. When you couple it to the Baha Mar fiasco, well there will be widespread poverty and in increase in crime here.

So birdie, tell us what you think in your heart of all PLP hearts about Baha Mar, Perry Christie and your future in the Bahamas? Why do you settle for mediocre and support the PLP? Do you devalue yourself that much, that you deserve to be lied to and stolen from by your beloved PLP vomit?
