We have enough small islands just find one and put all the mask wearing, life destroying, testing and lockdown fanatics on it and let them self isolate for the rest of their lives. These people need to go back into a hole.

No he didnt

Well despite decreasing margins as a %. Banks take 4% if you use a card to pay for your purchase. So when gas is now close to 7 dollars the bank takes .28 cents of the .54 cents allowed for cards and government and banks are in a big push to go cashless. How can people pay to run a service station? Government making money, bank making money but, the merchant makes less and less. Bank card charges are a hidden tax no one thinks about. Imagine handling money basically via computer which costs nothing and getting 4% on every transaction.

Maybe he should ask if the law allows him to charge the demand charge to business who need to then build their own backup generation for BPL's shitty service.

Just put NIB to 100% of salaries now and get it over with. That would solve the problem.

bcitizen says...

NIB has become nothing more than a basic income tax. Call it what it is. Government just takes the money and invests it in non performing government programs and buildings. How much more do they think individuals and business can take? The business pays about 2/3 of the NIB contributions and the employee about 1/3. Remember when Minnis first became PM and that video of him touring the NIB office? How many people they got working in that place? They had people inside broom closets sitting at a desk.

Yes thank you. Now please get rid of masks and tourist visa and tests.

All the reforms that need to happen within our government can be done without changing to a new system. The Senate needs reforming and The Bahamas itself needs to federalize somewhat (more freedom from the grip of central government). These are the big things that need to change in our government. Changing head of state makes no sense other than just emotional gratification. You really want another elected Politian to mess around with? I mean the politicians we have had over the last 50 years sure have done a bang up job.

I have no more words for this stupidity. The country is about to go bankrupt, people have no work, people have no food, people are dying of depression and stress and these people just hanging on to this garbage. Where is her data about the masks give us your sources? Most studies show little to no effect.

Government is one of the biggest drivers to the cost of goods, duty, fees, business license on gross, port charges, inspection fees, having to buy someone lunch just to do their job. So much red tape all costs to business. Mandatory corporate company lawyers. Businesses are the VAT tax collector for the government. Does anyone think that administering that is free to a business? Just the elimination of that stupid penny has cost business money with little accounting blips etc. that need to be dealt with. Government needs to look at their own self and not private companies as to cost of goods in The Bahamas. NIB rate increases with another one coming soon. Running and maintenance of backup generators because, BPL sucks so bad. All extra costs to Bahamian business and ultimately the consumer. My suggestions to lower prices to shut down the price control department and use the savings to give business a tax break. I wonder how many people they have on their payroll.
