Yeah new police cars. That will definitely reduce crime. VAT 18% here we come in 2 years. Tax and spend. What a waste

Yep anything that Bahamians own is on the table. All they worry about is tourism and financial services which are mostly foreign owned industries.

Easier to destroy what through propoganda you can make seem insignificant.

This is one of the most ill thought out parts of the new budget.

I was Hubert that bragged when he was last Prime Minister that the Bahamas and China were the only two countries in the world to not downsize their civil service during the recession that began in 2008. So now here we are.

This is just smoke and mirrors. What happens when BEC can't net off their vat expenses and have to raise their base rates/fuel surcharge? We'll be right back to square one.

bcitizen says...

This is a big blow to business that need to buy physical locations to operate. This will kill businesses. This part of the budget is worse than the vat increase and a total backtracking by the government even though it was done under the previous one.

bcitizen says...

This is all part of the game with the IMF and other global lending powers to get control of our country. We have borrowed enough so now they can dictate to us. This is all part of the Bahamas being pressured to join WTO among other things. VAT has to be between 15-20% for WTO and this was going to happen with either party. It is all smoke and mirrors as we get sold down the river and we lose our sovereignty.

The government promised to get it's house in order with the first 7.5 vat now we're adding another 4.5 with no tangible progress towards the government getting it's house in order. I guess we will need another 4.5 in two years.

bcitizen says...

This is what's gonna happen with the next 4.5 percent vat. More government hires. Shrink the government and we won't need more taxes!
