Makes perfect sense, now businesses can tote around thousands of dollars in cash to make payments that currently checks are used for that cannot be paid by other means. If people are not really using checks what is the drive/motive to eliminate them? Not everywhere takes credit cards including the government in many instances. The government itself pays most merchants with check.
I can walk into a US bank and have an account open in less than 30 min. In my own country I have to bring a suitcase full of documents and letters and wait days or weeks to get an account open. A business account getting opened is almost a joke only a masochist could enjoy opening a business account in The Bahamas.
The site is a disaster. 10 min just circling to go from one page to the next if you can get on and if the next page even loads properly and you do not have to spend 10 min to go back to try and load it again.. No email confirmations of anything that has been done. It is non intuitive. The credit card payment does not work. No instructions as to what has to be done with the actual and estimated filings. Any decent programmer or software company should have been able to fix the issues before the months end. They knew it had problems from the first week.
The new BL is a disaster, no explanations, no instructions, the site is one glitchy mess. They should have randomly selected say 100 bossiness to use the new system this year to work out the bugs. It is is insane and they want to stick to their deadlines for filings etc.
Me too. My business is close to shut down. I do not think anyone realizes how many business are just teetering on shutdown. The regulations are becoming even more killer than the taxes. Sucking up so many limited management resources and limited talented labour. Instead of growing and expanding your business your time is consumed dealing with government BS. ;.gov.bs ror government websites and the BS part says it all. This is not FNM or PLP thing. The whole thing is rotten to the core.
While I think the government does need to reduce spending. These are the same people who say The Bahamas cannot access all types of low interest financing and grants because we have such a high GDP. Sorry IMF cannot have it both ways.
