I put my solar system in out of my savings exactily as talrussell says , was getting .05 percent , by investing in solar i got my money back in 3 years and now making 33 percent on my investment . With that money i have now invested in a electric car 20k no gas no electricty runs off my spare solar from my house gets 120 miles to a charge and goes very quick . we must try to get more solar into the bahamas , and use the sun, its free.
i have a 5000 sq ft house and the light bills were 600 a month winter 900 to 1200 summer, my last three year light bills on solar total were only 300 . I bought the 10 kw system in florida at solar electonics for 14,000 and we installed it ourself with a electrian. the first batterys did not work well sold them and spent 10,000 more on a better set, rolles 530 so im about 25,000 cost my saving so far is about 8400 per year in three years its paid for. We get full airconditioning , and have only had to switchback to the grid a few times after three days of overcast. I also have two solar hot water panels. But you dont have to do it all atonce if you can not afford the big cost, start with a smaller sytem 3 kw for 5000 and add when you get savings. the goverment helped by no duty saved a lot.

copper exports have to be stopped , a building i am buying lost 30,000 worth of wires and 100,000 worth of damage to the 75kva transformer, outlets , drywall and box's with no insurance to cover the damage so the old owner looses . We have so little real not stolen copper to export it makes sense to stop the export. I know many people who have lost air conditioners, radiators and wires.

panels last 25 years and if mounted right can take a good sized hurricane, good large batteries are 12 to 15 years ,
