All govts in good governance want to have females at top levels especially in male dominated echelons. The Leader of Her Majesty's loyal Opposition however, did cited a percentage of females his party desired which was la figure less than even a 50% and for which he was rightly criticized.

Females who have been appointed to top levels always seem to be more scrutinized than their male counterparts. Instance in past with males scurrilous repugnant remarks in the peoples chambers on females. Females have to be dressed in appropriate fashions down to colours, handbags etcetc appropriate to surroundings and with hair styles. All this attention on females attire is required versus the standards of males who can be wearing the SAME suit seems continuously for ages, males can also get away with lazy technique of shaving their hair bald and its normal to male boys club. There are all these double hippopotamus standards females have to endure and persists.

On the matter of the just resigned Minister, it did seem quite odd that that in every Ministry there are officials, and salaried Civil Servants who have the job of highest standards to have advised her of the Medals and charge to the Govt. This situation or any such situation should have never happened.

@ The_Oracle Good points. The Civil Service has been a body part of the political parties and have been packed by alternating govts rewarding its followers. Lots of inefficiencies which have stagnated growth of the nation, lots of archaic functions, lots of paperwork, lots of anomiily, lots of woefully incorrect staffing like 1 person doing the work of 10 and10 workers doing the work of 1. Lots of ppolitical chicanery many workers fully creating harebrained money wasting projects initiated by politicans and have the cultivated culture of speaking with the other side of their mouth to new alternating govt. etc. Wastages, wastages, wastages billions of dollars.

Sum total result is the entire nation suffers with eyes wide open and with increasing Nation Debt pushed and crippling present and future generations.

Taxes, taxes, taxes. Along with the taxes applied or charged to taxable persons or corporations, there must be Tax Credits. Tax Credits points can be given to encourage Corporations ie to make investments in govt desired Family Islands, Credits can be given for desirable industries, for amounts of persons employed etcetc. Persons can be offered Credits for ie Going green with solar use, electric vehiclles taking care of disabled family members, investment in certain products which govt wants to expand etcetc. Tax Credits can be used to have persons and corporations induced or encouraged to develop or expand in areas the govt desires.

This Minister with milk on his mout needs to go into the bottom drawers of the office cabinet and start reading on scores of the Bahamas signed on Climate Change Documents and its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint an go green. Some unfccc United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change agreements in 1992 and ratified in 1994, various continuous yearly correspondences, Bahamas Govt document on Bahamas Policy Adaptation to Climate Change about 51 pages March 2005, Bahamas international commitment signed 2016 Paris Climate Change most nations of the world except few. Some of these Bahamas signed documents go way back even to ozone etcetcetc likely before he was born.

Whomsoever have been establishing this oil drilling company 2005 and licence 2006 needs investagations. Its situation of putting the Bahamas over the barrel is looking like the tail wagging the dog, unbelievable.!!!.

The Bahamas honesty and integrity on its signed prior international UN and other world Agreements should be most important to all including the Govt Ministers of the entire nation and whose flag they most times wear on their coat jacket.

Both have made these errors but the irony is that both sides have been sitting in the SAME room while projects have been going on and together while hundreds of millions of taxpayers money wasted. Further irony is the new winning side previous Opposition after electionsthen pplays ignorant and does the ritual of stopping and checking the projects the other side did as though they were not in the same room.
