A step in the right direction. CIBC employee charged, BPL worker charged, finally top people Board of Director now stepping down. Not quite the same but its a start and the govt must be commended for this stunning epiphamy and achievment.
There is a lawyer Cartright I believe who has been advocating a Bahamian Aviation Registry for ages. We need to get beyond the constant politics of fixing potholes, garbage dump smoke, schools need fixing, who is striking and start advocating, AI, robotics, stem cell, medical research, medical equipment, climate change world centre for research and solutions, ets. Politicians and such massive numbers in Parliament need to learn and talk about these things to propel us forward instead of the long drawn out soap opera tit for tat.
Where are the investigations before govt or some govt official jumped in and being so generous with the taxpayers money?? How did the money escape out of the country to invest in Florida property? What was the Central Bank doing? How does a foreign cash cow insuramce cash collecting premium business wind up Borrowing Bahamian mortgage to buy when theu collest so much money monthly? Same time ask how did the irregular Gulf Union Bank actovities allowed and what was the Central Bank doing?? Persons responsible need to be jailed and stop using Taxpsyers money to bail out these companies. What does the Board of Directors hsve to say?? These are private sector cpmpanies with their private Directors, management and nothing to do with VAT taxpayers peoples money and many going to bed hungry.
If for decades so many changes of governments and the union cry is still 'we werent consulted' , 'we werent asked' cries like that, then by now shouldnt someone have asked, WHY?? In other countries unions have been so advanced in nation building strategy that they are the bavkbone of major political parties.
Looking at the name Jean-Rony Jean-Charles seems irregular. Years ago someone with the name Rony was shot dead somewhere in Bacardi toad and there are persons having parts of nane. Usually with excellect copied papers compounds identfying persons possibly facilitating fraud. What is even more glaring is that the govt itself for decades has allowed advertising for citizenship public notices in the papers to do so without a photograh in the ad. Despite govt numbering most houses with numbers many ads even will inform that the person lives on Esat or Carmichael road and at times even st o P.O Box number.
Wild fluctuations, are you kidding. What about the Bank of the Bahamas shares? Free market forces must prevail and govt must stop getting involved especially when other banks follow the rules.
Hmmmmm. These illegals do not cooperate with the authorities because there is nothing to gain and will shelter and protect each other because of the greater ties that bind them by culture, poverty, language, food, same hometown, history, likely same human trafficking network, same Bah shantytowns etc.Years ago when Pres. Martelly visited unannounced at the Farrington RdCentre some 7,000 showed up in a matter of hours. A less understood part of culture is 'Restavek' where they are even prepared to even leave their children with others in hopes of a better life for them. What may seem like illegal economic migrants is actually Haitians colonizing the Bahamas as has been happening utilizing all means necessary.
absolutely no one should be making threats of physical harm to any public official regardless of how you feel. Chances are that you will sooner feel that nourishing trickle down effect if you join the long food line at the good ol Salvation Army no matter which side you on.
VAT implementation was efficiently executed in the Bahamas with the assistance of numerous foreign consultants paid for by the former govt Amazing to yet hear any of the Bahamian past or present govt experts advocate tax credits, deferred taxes, less business licenceetcetcetc which is common sense to steer desired sectors to grow. Other daily paper 28.10.16 Business section headline'Resolve loans were worth only 22.5 m'. Also entire rights issue 40m was bought by govt, recently some 166m injected for some 42m worth of bad loans buildings value. Present system of charging taxes and pouring it into holes is unfair hence the ire. People, businesses are not amused and the cupboards bare.
