More talk. This is one of the most serious matters one of the where weapons and national security is concerned.
Whatever happened to accountability and transparency words used during the election.
All we are reading is not transparent enough and we are expected to believe.
Alot of investigations but no criminal charges after govt investigations despite findings and only charges where persons are making an accusation against another indovidial who worked on govt.
Like the old lady asked where is the meat/beef?.?or the cupboards are empty.

accountability should not be now started.... after .....all the losses and investigations and at great expense and time and courage to reveal.

big words like accountable and transparency should be laid on the board of directors to account.

no one person whomsoever they may be should have one vote to overide all other professionals sitting on any board.

All major oil companies would have Environmental protection policies. And very likely more voluminous than that of any govt to pervent massive litigation and moreso damaging to its reputation of the oil company.
It is usually up to the govt and citizens to see that it is enforced and usually by the inevitable set of learned lawyers.
A major concern is that jobs are not given to persons who may be squatting illegally on any land as is currently done as one should not be participating in an illegal act and benefit from any job created by the lawful efforts of the govt. and for the benefit for citizens following the law.
A nightmare would be the end result seeing new shantytowns and increase in sizes of the Mud, Pigeon Pea etc. which is in close proximity to east Grand Bahama or is this a coincidence.?

bogart says...

Absolutely correct.!!!.. Bahamians are not familiar with annual 1040s tax forms, REITs, etc.,however bankers have the ability to also not give a loan when its success is bleak, speculative or marginal and will cause default. What you dont spend you should save or find it or else your bucket leaking. Banks fo not lose as they have the money for best lawyers for Court and Judgement.
When control was lost to overseas countries bankers were forced to be bankers and salespersons to meet targets or else no salary increase.
We need a Financial Condict Authority or Financial Services Authoroty like England. To bring order.

What about the Board of Directors of the Bank of the Bahamas that was headed by a former Auditor.
At least a former Auditor General, an accountant. Should we not be looking at things run prpfessionally at least that is why BoB needs no audit like BPL.
Boards of Directors are of the highest caliber of professionals educated and subscribing to the highrst levels of professional ethics demanded by their International Professional Organizations.and local Bahamian prefessional organizations too.

With large construction projects the cost of labour is a key component.
And a concern would be the employment of Bahamians first and for Bahamians who live on legally registered land with title papers.

bogart says...

Simple procedures a,b,c of a mortgage process to show why bank mortgage customers should not fail and why if an outside company can succeed with restructuring so should the banks and areas of possible negligence which the govt should investigate in this massive failure.
Sorry its lengthy but I am passionale about financial wrongs done to Bahamians like this and 100% increase in bank fees.
