Persons need to be fired. It is stupid to follow strategies that do not work second chance, third, fourth, how many yimes now. Bahamian taxpayers should not be paying salaries for repeated similar failures
We need a unit as thorough as TSA and a Homeland Security protection unit given the crises situation. Shanty towns must be demolished. Someone has to be getting bribed as they still remain for years versus lawbiding Buildrrs having to demolish govt unapproved works and face laws and be charged for its removal.
Such gaping breeches, loose apparant uninforcable laws squanders our birtrite we so cherish. Persons of other natipnalities and Bahamians who harbor and facilitate must be punished.
It is obvious that that persons who are proud of their foreign nationalitiy are in our midst who will protect illegal migrants of their own nationality to break our Bahamian laws.
Govt needs Homeland Security unit to effectively enforce the laws and prepare for the lies, false accusations, deceit, forgeries, smear tatics, outright lies, sympathy support from anti govt followers, fellow nationals, international condemnation from groups who will appear, accusations of breaking international laws, lots of little babies to be used for propagada puropses, photo shoots of inhuman conditions, women holding babies to block the way of investigators so others csn escape, false or true accusations of bribery, violence etcetcetc.
Despite repested changes in govts every 5 years the situation has worsened.
Comrade TalRrussell you lost me on the..wait for ACE step front media podium to 'clarify' that KPs ....please explain..normally your language is easy to understand on the articles we all read.
yes yes yes yes... We need to analyze returms on imvestments. Revenue from some must not continue to go into the bottomless pits of other entities in perpetuity. Without people going to jail or be punished for white collar wrong doing.
Proper and legitimate supply and demand for labour must have a rral equilibtium point. All things being equal. Legal workers will not be able to compete with illegal ones willing to work for less and sheltered by any means imaginable by persons to continue to break the laws of our Bahamaland.
We will be better for insrtance with a municipal transit authority bis systen and hsve to spend less to buy cats 2 or 3 perfamily and less than the 119 million plus overruns of some 85 m to fox roads which by the way needs fixing again. Are the taxes sufficient to offset the road repairs and would all the millions of car purchase money not be better in developing the nation than creating car manifacture jobs in other peoles countries.?
Cost benefits, returmon investment must be the rule rather than emotion.
Good ideas. First the govt must improve what exists with present govt BPL, Bahamasair, W/S etc entities to make them pay their way Directors and workers accountable and jail time to make sure they dont come back when they are found guilty. Marketing survey on where the benefits go from present operations and how can more Bahamians benefit. Bay st merchant said when you see people disappear you know there is a Police raid coming. Sheeprunner 12 has it that it is not in berth but how they spend. More attractions needed to get them off the ship and govt should have lots of plans including ova da hill Marketplace which will have tourists move up shopping arras past Govt House , modern museum centre piece pictures, dipicting Bahamian, shops selling fully Bahamian items by old Citi market, towards east st towards tower lined with Bahamian Arts and Crafts, a full Bahamian cultural, intellectual, centre markrting islands, food feast, etc, history column, sculptures etc. Empower more Bahamian businesses let the small man have a piece of the pie when monry is spent. Fpr too long Bay st merchants get wealthier kids while the pore man majority of workers remain pore. Check the wages minimum wages. Where is the return on investment 85 million to dredge the harbour for Oasis of the Seas and millions of advertisong annually.
Agree with you Sheeprunner on the charges for small amounts as a former AG said about signing nollie instead of having some tourist caught eith small amount having to come back for court. The volume of paperwork and time spent by lawofficials is much costly than a policeman having the power to or not to arrest or charge on a small amount. Medical marijuana is actually cultivated in many industrializrd countries for medically prescribed uses. I agree it is out of control judging fron the many arrests of bulk quantities. On the alcohol matter DrSands needs lo look into NIB iinvestment of shares in the alcohol company. While dividends and capital appreciation is good the end result of related medical treatment will outweigh it Police should have the authority for discretion on small amounts to manage what exists but relaxation should not be to the point of creating new users.
In sorrow over the passing of Sir Arli a truly larger than life Bahamian. Will miss that very proper voice I last recalled holding the door open for you at the bank and joking with you on the line. A man who followed his beliefs. A tru tru Bahamian. Thank you for your service. May you rest in peace. Amen
Actually Freeport used to have a number of medical offices exploring new areas of medecine, cancer treatments and even recently stem cells studies. Grand Bahama would be ideal for any marijuana research, developments, strains for the medical area. Other noted producers from Freeport with qualified professionals Syntex, Franklyn, Gist etc.And coupled with the port as hub production, research and developments unlimited potential job creation. Other medical research areas should be in local bush teas, bush medicine, jelly fish material now used in drugs, natural sea salt with so many other minerals in it, etc and excellent to see BAIC selling natural sea salt and bottles of 21 Gun Salute made in the Bahamas.
Now that the irregularities are known after what must have been courageous efforts the people are expecting that some punishment must follow.
It is not right that the pore black or white man can be sentenced to 1 year and 2 months for stealing a one lb bag of rice and can of tuna valued $3.15. see Tribune 13 oct.
