The option of running underground system is seems limited to exhorbitant cost which is factored to first selling the lot, another factor is that many areas were swamp areas which was seemingly filled in to make lots for sale. There are many areas which are low areas likely to get flooded and poor drainage system.

Excellent work RBDF and thank you again Uncle Sam.

Now that the illegal vessel and illegal persons have been captured for breeching our sovereign borders and to try to get away from apprehension by the National Bahamas Defence Forces of the Commomwealth of the Bahamas, it is time to time to take them in for questioning to identify the culprits of illegal boat operators, horrid illegal Human Trafficking, endangering lives on boat etc.

Given the massive costs of resources routed, allocated, sacrificing other areas for citizens and children to the citizens of the nation for decades, it is about time that the illegal Boat Captain and crew be identified and jail them for life. The seems regular procedure for sending all captured to the taxpayers funded Detention Centre in Nassau and sending them all back including the Illegal Boat Captain and crew to return again, imposes another, next threat of another invasion to Bahamas and is ridiculously stupid and questions the intelligence and strategy of those in charge of Defence Forces our Sovereign nation.

....hmmmmmm.....so the Taxpaying public funds an entire Govt Department when the Chairman goes into the Grocery store and asks the store management to "remove the meat from the public because the meat was bad and it was contaminated".

The procedures should involve documented detailed reporting for the Records for Govt Agency and Public, massive monetary fines, jail time, Closure of outlet, documented instructions to clean up and subjection to Inspection by other officials, details for good standards and tracking records. Question is did the Bahamas Govt send these taxpayers paying Salaries officials to the Chinese Wuhun Market on how to deal wid contaminated meat sold by grocers...???!!!!!

...Tribanon, I am sad at the horrible experience Ms. Newbold and fiance is going through and particular sadened at their contracts and financial loss incurred from Govt decision. There are likely dozens more, perhaps hundreds of contracts and planning of events weddings, funeals, graduation, Christening babies, wedding, business annivarisies, birthdaysetcetc which have been postponed and altered. We all get shorted. On the Ms. Newbold position I would have liked to see their photo published of in all fairness of this couple having plans to wed in Nassau Bahamuan destination just as the other partipants pictured in celebration at the other Bahamian Harbour Island destination. And yes, there are lots of unfair inequalities, lots of unfair situations to many persons under all govts and should have corrections. A solution given the sad situation now that it is known from the Tribune is for the govt to step up to the plate and rearrange wedding free costs for Ms. Newbold who also have stated having wedding with Covid 19 strict guidelines.

"Permission was granted for a destination wedding on Harbour Island, Eleuthera and a Bahamian wedding in New Providence."

The writer needs to clarify it some more because the Complainant mentions she and fiance brought their parents from the Family Islands to Nassau (New Providence, Bahamas) for her wedding. So what is the difference between the one described as "destination" Eleuthera Bahamas) and the one referred/described to as "Bahamian" New Providence, Bahamas.

If yinna can fine an jail for persons break curfew seems persons who are homeless and seems not in full medical contition wandering streets.....then, unquestionably the woman who knowing risks..and spreading it, its automatic jail time and leniency to daughter if she is a minor. Top penalty to put brakes on to stop further lawlessness now than dwadlling foot dragging more cases happening and then applying fullest penalties to perpetrators.

Good point Clamshell. Apart from the party yacht situation coming, the authorities must be aware that Florida has seems huge capital collection of yachts and there is industry in charter yachts. There must be in mind of Florida has population of some 22 million population seeing increasing persons affected. Just as any Bahamian on island facing similar situation it would seem likely that Floridians would want to see safer refuge elsewhere including coming to Bahamas.

see Tribune article "Govt 'kicks can down the road ....Bahamasair'"June25, 2018. It seems the legacy debt since 1973 is over half a billion dollars taxpayers money. A very interesting article.
