Sorry to say, but!! I don't think anything different will EVER happen until The Bahamas embraces alternative energy sources for our power... Only 3rd world countries are still chasing carbon based energy sources...
The problem is, that there is NO good time to close down the straw market without someone being offended. And there SHOULD be a law that the goods in the straw market be ONLY locally made. Would help local artisan a LOT and also leave the "imported" souvenirs to the souvenir and hotel gift stores, so ALL can benefit....
One would think that if, RIGHT before an election, ANY government hands out a number of contracts, that they should be able to nullify them and begin the process again... What if a government, knowing that they will not win a general election, pardons hundreds of criminals and murderers? The people would have to "live with it?"
OK I need to be fair. I had checked this software a few weeks ago. There were some problems and complaints on the site I found, that noted that they were having a lot of problems with the software. I rechecked a few minutes ago and there is nothing there. So.... They EITHER took care of any problems to the satisfaction of the client (to the extent that the client removed the piece;) or the complaints were "made up" (usually from competitors.) So lets keep our fingers cross that we will not have any problems.. (Might be a GOOD idea to have the software locked to all but a VERY few, so things don't get screwed up when someone decides to "make the software perform better.....")
From what I have been reading, the company that has produced this software is having a LOT of problems in The U.S. (At least it is having a few problems software instilations with BIG clients...)
Maybe it should work this way. $20 a month for 10 months ONLY; is put into a holding account that is in the name of the consumer and BPL. Nobody can "withdraw" unless BOTH sign the cheque. Then AFTER the 12 months when ALL of the "brand new generators are up and running, the money is withdrawn by both parties, with the cheque going to BPL. As this is a guarenteed "bond" a local (or several) banks should cover BPL until then. (They could make interest on the funds that would be in their bank.) However, if the plant ISN'T up and running by then, the BANK(S) own the power company!!! (Might work out better if that happend anyway...
