No no no... We are a small country that large international companies use to their advantage to get out of paying the taxes and fall under cerain regulations in their countries. Why do we all take the money? As a small Nation, it's very much needed. As for the cruise lines? Keeping in mind the hunderds of millions of $$ that they have saved over the years by registering their business in another country; they need to be made to spend some of it by their passenger's home countries to take care of their own citizens. this is not on us! When times are normal we NEVER hear from the cruise lines regarding doing anything out of the ordinary to help The Bahamas. (Unless you want to include the purchasing of our islands and cays with the blessings of VERY short sighted administrations..)
So why are people doing any banking business with Commonwealth Bank? They LOVE to be punished? "Look Ma, NO interest on my deposit balances, and HIGH interest rates on any loans!!"
Tipical of some Bahamians, always putting fellow Bahamians down. Rupert Roberts is a Bahamian businessman who HAS been successful due to many things, his no-nonsense approach, his business acumen, and his leadership. All he is sharing (IMHO) is the fact that things have gotten CRAZY, that people should NOT "panic buy" (which will cause him to LOSE money if they follow his advice,) and HOW he is coping with the continuing shortages of perishables that is being experienced, (such as ordering extra containers, trying to get "heads up" with customs to be able to clear the containers quickly when they arrive,) etc.. . Now all of this HELPS the Bahamian people, but right away there are Bahamians claming that the man is greedy, is NOT caring about the Bahamian public, etc.. etc... Tell you what... Let Super Value close down.... Then tell me how "great and wonderful" all of the remaing places selling groceries are.....
Amazing... We KNOW how many cases we COULD have in a "worse case senero!" And only 100 needing to go to the hospital... Phew.. We can all relax now. No need to start looking for resperators, medicines and other peventative measures. We should have enough staff and nurses to take care of everything.. Keep the tourist coming we "is ready!"

We would be "idiots in the FIRST degree" to agree to bring sick cruise ship passengers to our MUCH more limited health resources in The Bahamas...

If you believe that to be a fact with Mr. Roberts being "rich and greedy," simple, do NOT support any of his companies...
