Having attended this topping off ceremony personally, i was both amused at the level of egoistical rambling this PM is capable of, as well as embarrassed for the people of the Bahamas.
In short, Bahamian workers have become expectant of pay with little work, little if any accountability.... Expecting that the companies will always be around to support their lazy work ethic...fortunately not all Bahamians are like this....aka welfare.
How come we hear and see these reports, but we hear/see no response from the govt of the Bahamas on such reports. Nothing. No retorts, no comments, no actions. Nothing. Does the Govt even read the papers or reports?
So true...so true....victimization when on one side of the table. Now, anti-bahamianism" when on the other side. Agree with ya...do your job, (and do it exceptional!!!), and live your life and respect others. Things take care of themselves.
Excellent point and writing on this topic. Having first hand experience with the park in which you speak about since having a spouse that worked there, i can tell you emphatically that "prevention" is far better than "reaction"! The quicker people learn that, the less problems they will have.
Yep, another example of the bahamas government(s) inability to step into the 21st century. The bahamas will always be "behind" the others in the region simply due to this, and other mindset that are stuck in the 1930's and 1940's. When will the bahamas grow up and be a real nation!
How can ANY resort have 1st class service in the Bahamas (especially NP?) when the people have no desire or incapable of giving such service? It's been seen time and time again that the people of NP, (not all, but most), could care less about customer service and doing an "excellent job". Most just want to do what the minimal amount is in order to get a paycheck and go home. period. That's why resorts have to bring in foreigners to do the heavy lifting of customer experiences at resorts. And unfortunately the government isn't helping the situation either. So, i feel sorry for Atlantis in having to defend themselves as they are having to scrape the bottom of the barrel when it comes to 1st class personnel for their resort. Go to the outer islands, go to Europe, go to Asia, go to Canada, go anywhere else and there you will find people with a desire, passion to excel, have self respect, care about their countries image and their own betterment. But don't come to bahamas and expect 1st class or world class service.
recent article in same paper titled: Baha Mar awards $150M in contracts to locals. Humm, lets see now...looks like they are making good attempt at hiring bahamians. Problem is there aren't enough qualified Bahamians....
