If we move ahead with OBAN and LNG will the government pull out of the Paris Climate Accord? (as clearly we can never reduce our emissions enough to meet our obligations then)

Wonders how much better it would all look if the Bahamas kicked out the cruise ships, and a number of hotels like Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn opened to pick up the higher demand for lower end rooms. Perhaps a revitalized over the hill too as new hotel investment went inland to offer lower priced rooms? Wonder if we will ever know...

Lets offer to let the UN handle this next time (as it is there to do) then we'll all know its a level playing field, and the EU won't have to spend special resources "helping" us! The EU and OECD can then submit any proposal to the UN they feel is best.

If Saudi Arabia land of oil is moving to do solar for electricity we can too. You can 3D print solar panels even! I guarantee a tender to move all of BEC to solar and a utility Tesla battery is the greenest and cheapest way to go. And remember if we don't do LNG then that is a fracking field somewhere in the world that won't have to be fracked.

Are foreign law enforcement officials now authorized to act in the Bahamas without local counterpart involvement? An update on the legal basis for all this I think is required, most would have been under the impression this was not allowed in the Bahamas.

How is a multi decade contract with Shell for LNG a transition to renewable power?

It would appear the Bahamas could be under water from climate change before that contract expired and you could do a new contract for solar power only.

If the people pay more in VAT, then why shouldn't the bondholders and those on the public pay be contributing to solving our fiscal mess?

It seems we just pay more VAT, but the other two parties aren't asked to "give" as part of the solution.

You can not VAT increase your way out of the fiscal mess without the other two parties at the table.

If new demands are being made 18 years after the first set of OECD demands was made and complied with (tho for what benefit to the Bahamas it is unclear), then its clear the list of demands will never cease. What then is the point with complying with any of them if there will only be new demands made in the future?

If these alphabet organizations are running the Bahamas why do we bother to hold elections?

Increasing the cruise industry gives them more power, and takes away power from land based tourism products. Allowing cruise visitors that spend virtually nothing in the Bahamas to see Lighthouse beach shoots ourselves in the foot. It closes the door on higher yielding land based products on the same property.

If more cruise visitors is "Good" then why isn't the Bahamas booming after the harbour in Nassau was dredged to allow in super large cruise ships? Its economy worse than it was then. So more volume CAN NOT solve the problem. More cruise tourists = less spend in the Bahamas, and the results speak for themselves.

When again did crime spike in Nassau? Oh, about the same time cruise ships went mega sized. If more cruise visitors was the cure, we'd be an economic paradise by now.

For those who trumpet "sustainable development" - where has forty years of this got our world since the term first came out in the 70s? The brink of ecological ruination is the answer.

Ever growing numbers of cruise ship visitors that contribute very low spends per person in the Bahamas can never be sustainable.

The failure of the Bahamas to make Lighthouse Beach a National Park is a travesty future generations will be regretting. Glad to have got to seen such a beauty before Disney ruined it, only wish others could have had the same.
