I find it amazing when the borrower blames the lender that we went to hat in hat "begging money " We do well as a country ,but b/c of massive corruption ,dam 600 million walked out the front door of BOB ,lack of maintenance ,a massive vote buying exercise by both PLP and FNM ,ie 1 in 4 working for government,,, we have to keep borrowing and taxing and we have been for the last 30 to 40 years .

Its been about 30 to 40 years of gross negligence .Producing electricity from diesel generators is not a new or extremely complicated process ,yet for the past 40 years we have been unable to do it despite charging consumers an arm and a leg .It is time to give an established large company majority ownership ,like the telephone company w ,Liberty and Aliv .It also gets rid of a lot of union problems b/b then they can,t strong arm governments for there votes ..40 years is all the proof I need that we can,t keep the lights on ,,and I don,t care FNM ,PLP, the union , maintinance ,,makes no difference we can not keep the lights on

What I find interesting is most of you posting seem to think our slide to the bottom as a nation started in the last two years .Dam we have not been able to keep the power on despite charging an arm and a leg for electricity since the late 1970 . The looting of the treasury w loans to cronies and friends also started way back then w the Peoples penny saving bank ,then The Development bank and finally w BOB .Then we cry its the crooked politicians , if your PLP its the FNM if your FNM its the PLP .Well these politicians did not come from Mars they are Bahamian born of Bahamian mothers and fathers . In the beginning after independence we could claim ,we getting back what the Bay Street boys took .The Bay Street boys still alright and we robbing our selves .I f we did not have a much larger tax base then our population we would of collapsed long ago .Because we have duty and now vat that our consumption taxes every time a tourist eats ,drinks or buys something they are also paying taxes here

Anyone notice when a private company has majority shares and control ,btc ,aliv etc you don,t get all of this union nonsense ..,The union can no longer strong arm the government for raises by promising political support ,,ie buying votes .For the love of all that is good the deal w Shell NA to build own and operate the power plant can,t come soon enough .The separation packages that went on at BTC and at BEC are used to get rid of overstaffing and bad apples .This nonsense now is bc people where being brought in to go over the stores ,supplies etc .The union don,t want thar bc you will see where all the "theefin" lack of proper maintenance etc went on .

Stop living in the dark ages .There are far to many studies that conclude corporal punishment and beating children makes many of them anti social and teaches them to deal w conflict resolution by physical means ..We have been beating the snot out of kids ,sometimes in anger , forever and we have a violent society w a murder rate like a war zone .Don,t give me anecdotal evidence about I was spanked and I turned out all right . The last study was over 50 years and a 140,000 children .There are other ways to discipline .Why do the Nordic countries where corporal punishment is illegal have the lowest crime rates and violence on the planet ..Don,t say we don,t whup kids anymore ,,nonsense I see us whipping the snot out of them all the time ,,if the Bahamas was a lab for does corporal punishment work ,,I say ,only in making more violent teens and young adults ,,And spare the rod was about using the hook on the staff to guide sheep back ,,not beating kids ..Used like pay Caesar what is due caeser was not put in until king james was having trouble collecting taxes ,, Come out of the dark ages

no they don,t ,,The boat was damaged badly about a month before .An engine was torn half off , repairs were made but the floor was not removed to check the fuel tanks ,, the sip sip was the boat was not susposed to be fully fueled b/c of problems .If you prefer to believe that it was not bad decesions and negligence , but you believe we as a people are bomb making murderers that's on you ,,the first scenario says something about us as seaman ,,the second ,which you propose says even worse about us as people ..

our out islands are very underdeveloped ,including Eleuthera ..I,m not talking about over development , but we need jobs .We are coral rocks that w our high energy cost and under educated work force are not going to become production centers . This is what we have to sell ,sun ,sand sea .Have you been around the out islands/family Islands ,,apart from tiny populations in spread out settlements they are "barren" Andros ,San sal ,Cat , Aklins could all use a Disney type port and there would still be miles and miles and miles of solitude if you want

This is private property , the owners have a right to sell .I,m a boat capt that travels all over The Bahamas ,most of our Islands ,except for Nassau are underdeveloped including Eleuthera . We have cays and Islands from Abaco in the north to 40 miles from Cuba in the south ,,this is what we sell ,sun sand and sea . Even in the Exuma cays which I just ran 2 days ago less than 15% of the cays are developed if that .Many of the family Islands including Eleuthera apart from settlements here and there are "barren " and need more development
