We have tons of Islands , if the cruise lines don,t develop them they will stay dormat for the next thousand years .Its what we have to sell and get tax revenue from ,sun ,sand and sea .The cruise lines want to control the guest experience ..Can you blame them ,,Bay Street is basically dirty and loud where the tourist are harassed .The new straw market is already a loud ,"nasty" smelly place .The family Island I live on the down town is a dump ..some of the foundations , mostly winter resident run organize a clean up and within a month its strewn w beer bottles , Styrofoam food containers and numbers papers again ..I don,t blame the cruise lines ,,it is what it is

That is why a deal has been signed w Shell North America to come in a build a new power plant and modernize the family Islands and guarantee us a much lower rate ..Thank goodness .Since independence despite charging the highest rates in the region by far we have not been able to produce reliable electricity ,,proof is in the pudding ,,privatize it get the politicians and the hanger ons and overstaffing out of producing power ,Small and large hotels etc can,t not compete w the price of our electricity .Our stop over visitors have not increased from the late 1990,s while DR stopover have gone from 1 million to well over 3 million ,,

actually medium and small hotels are losing favour..Arbnb and home away is whats up .Who wants crappy service w an automatic 18%gratuity .Both Abaco and Exuma are being propelled by vacation home rentals to high end guest .On Exuma we are doing good as Bahamians renting them cars ,captain boats , having resturants ,fish fry etc ,,building the homes etc .managing them ,,and yes owning home and cottages to rent .Another question how come Abaco does well w high end second home owners and rich yacthees etc w out gov help and Grand Bahama sucks and cries for the government to do something .

Basically PGC et all should of let the case be heard in Delaware .Our government at the time colluded w the Chinese to shaft an investor . I know of another large investor that got so spooked by this that although they smiled in pics w PGC etc ,they held off any real investment until after the election

Freeport been crying for help since the late 70,s ,,Abaco doing fine ..When the new LNG plant in Nassau nears completion in 2021 and the 85 mega that Shell NA provided in the mean time has been providing reliable power FNM will be hard to beat in 2022 .How Abaco has bustling hotels ,marinas and 3000 second home owners ??Grand Bahama righr there ,,what they got

once again we sell sand sun and sea vacations , second homes to rich people from other countries ,,residency for tax benefits and financial services . in a beautiful local .We do not have the soil for large scale farming , no great abundance of natural resources ,,ie gold ,silver ,metals or oil . As a manufacturing hub our cost are too high b/c of our high energy cost and low skill work force .I love my country too ,but I don,t let my national pride get in the way of facts .
