The PM pointing out the positive, and yenna doing just the opposite.
SME's are the private sector's job. Not Government. We all agree that Government cannot run anything well. Yet we want them to get involved in commerce. Well, monkey foot!!
It would appear that much of the Regs. relating to VAT are written to keep the Merchant Class honest. It has been a long held belief that the Merchant Class, through bribery of Customs Agents, and other Officials, is responsible for much of the loss in Revenue to the Public Treasury.
It would also appear that it is the Merchant Class which is so vocal in its opposition to the introduction of VAT.
In the coming months, Government will have to deal with all sorts of threats from these folks, as the day nears when it will become more difficult to side-step Customs Duties, and other Government Fees.
DO NOT feel sorry for them, or get caught up in their web of lies and slight of hand. They have had their way much too long. With VAT they will have to toe the line, or spend some time in Fox Hell.
The many warnings as to what to expect from this Company fell on deaf ears. However, the Government of the day was hell bent on concluding this dreadful deal. We can thank the retired one for the mess he left for someone else to clean up. Typical!
Am I the only one curious about what the UBS fellow would have to say about this situation? Why should this story be written without an interview of the central figure?
To allow the Chamber of Commerce the power to issue Business License is a JOKE of the first order.
Imagine a group of power drunk Businessmen deciding whether 'someone else' gets to go into business and become a competitor. 'Taint gonna happen'
These idiots who make these suggestions have the impression that everyone else is stupid. Mr. Christie should tell them, "Take that suggestion, and shove it"
Blithering power hungry greedy Nassau Pirates, is what they are!!
To be fair to the good people of North Abaco, they chose to have the Rt. Hon. Hubert A. Ingraham represent them in the last General Election. However, for reasons known to him, he QUIT. But before he quit, he hand picked Mr. Gomez to represent North Abaco. Given the choice, the people were left to choose between Mr. Curry and Mr. Gomez.
Like Mr. Ingraham, Mr. Gomez is 'missing in action' so to speak. So goes the actions of an Elder Statesman.
Yes, BTC is paying much too much attention to Data Services, and falling down badly on their Telephone (Cell and Wired) Services.
Right now our cell service sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cells cannot connect to land lines. We go from one excuse to the next. Voice mails come in anywhere up to two days late. What is that all about?
I see where the Staff at BTC is all excited about LTE, but as a customer, I simply want my PHONE to work. Dag Nabbit!!
Those who wait for the Government to do everything, including Solar, will be waiting for a long time.
In my opinion the Government has done its part in allowing Solar Systems into the Country Duty Free. It is up to the Citizens now to embrace the technology and install 'Solar' on both Residential and Business premises.
The entire Community of Little Harbour on Abaco has gone 'Solar'. One can see Solar Panels popping up all over the Abaco landscape. Some homeowners' Electric Bill from BEC is the minimum monthly charge. The payback for Solar is, at current BEC rates, very quick. The average is about 3 years. Then you are free to enjoy your investment.
I installed a system just over two years ago, and I estimate that I am saving on average $650 - $700 per month. I still have BEC as a back-up, but the savings are real, and I am not bothered by electrical spikes, brownouts, nor power cuts.
As individuals we should embrace this technology and be an example to Government that it can be done, and that it works.
((Mr Brown said: “On several occasions I have helped the police retrieve back stolen jewellery. On one occasion, the police came to me and said a chain was snatched (in the area) and gave a description of the person. Me and the police sat down and waited, and the culprit came right there and the police got him.”))
Well, right here, Mr. Brown makes an excellent case as to why such a business should be shut down. The thief steals the gold chain, and 'bingo' he brings it directly to Mr. Brown's business. Without the opportunity of selling the chain to Mr. Brown, the thief would have no incentive to steal it in the first place.
