Government has already cleared the way by reducing the Duty Rate on all things SOLAR. As a result, 'serious' people have already installed solar systems of every description, and are already reaping the benefits of lower electric bills.
So, we do not have to 'wait' on Government. YOU just have to get off your pontificating duff, and invest in the necessary components. Yes, I know it requires an investment, but one far less than that brand new car you might have just bought on credit. Do the same thing through your Banker for your Solar Installation, and start reaping the benefit. Cut your electric bills by 75-90%. The payback is real. In my particular case, I will pay back my total investment in 48 months. I am paying an average of $500.00 per month LESS to BEC now that I am running most of my home on Solar Power.
I wish Houston would spend a few extra sleepless nights and figure out a way to simply fix the land lines. What is with all this crackling noises I hear when I call landlines? It seems to me that some Bahamians would eat mud before complaining about the deplorable service rendered by BTC. Knowing how supportive these folks are, BTC simply ignores complaints about noisy lines, dropped calls, etc. etc. They could rightly argue that half the people are happy with their services.
So go right ahead 'satisfied' Bahamians, swallow your pride and not complain about what BTC is doing to us. You are a dis-service to yourselves and others. Think Bahamas!
Now, who but HAI himself would have penned these lines?
If the entire FNM organisation has not grown its OWN Leadership material since 1992, then it deserves to be lead once again by an old broke down ex-PLP.
HAI got this Country in its present financial MESS - are we fool enough to want him back in charge of the Treasury where he could give "sweet deals" to his buddies who will further rob the Treasury with massive cost overruns? Give me a break, please!!
I think the Prime Minister has demonstrated that fact that he is serious about shutting down the Web Shops. After all, he ordered them closed once the official result of the voting was announced. And, did you notice that on the following morning, all Web Shops were closed? So why do you think it would take the entire Police Force to close the Web Shops again? So, if the entire Police Force would not be required to close the Web Shops, your question (c) does not arise! Next case.
Dr. B, Could you please expand on how the Investors will be compensated, or earn a profit? I think you might be on to something, but profitability has to be built in if investors are expected to take a risk.
""Real property tax has been an historical weakness for the Government, with Auditor-General’s reports regularly estimating that more than $400 million and rising is uncollected.""
After 15 years of Ingraham, who do you suppose has been allowed to 'slip' on paying their Real Property Tax? Give me a break!!
You might not be convinced that there were no runway lights in the original Contract, but there were NONE! They had to be added later. Similar screwup as insufficient transmission line from the new power plant to Marsh Harbour.
It should not surprise ANYONE that such things were overlooked. Not only is the Runway too short, the Tower is said to be too close to the runway, and now we learn that there is no electricity to the tower. Well, kiss my leg. Someone should be "Lock UP' for this. I gotta ask Papa about this.
The Truth is that the Web Shop AND the thousands of employees are already criminals! I do not accept the argument that if the Web Shops are closed down, that all of those displaced workers will engage in other crimes, or perhaps they will - but, what difference does that make. They already breaking the law.
