Dr. Minnis suggestion that he will not lie to the nation on crime clearly suggests my assertion that the Commissioner of Police (COP) is not in control of policing the Bahamas.

Crime statistics should fall under the COP administrative duties and not the office of the prime minister or any other cabinet minister. Like I said the COP should call it as he sees it.

I think this is a good move by the government that should pay some dividends. Let's now see how fast this can be enacted.

The accounting that we look for in my view is still about 10 years away. The FNM and the PLP will always protect each other. I would even be shocked if Freedom of Information (FOI) was mentioned again until the next election season.

Anson's apology seems very sincere, but I think it is concerning that the commissioner of police said that he was satisfied that no crime was committed.

The main issue here is why Frank Smith and Dr, Perry Gomez kept this report quiet for over 6 months despite having an obligation to advise the public. What is the Prime Minister doing in lieu of this? When did he become aware of the audit findings.

I hope the lawsuit by Dr. Smith goes to court, because this will be the only way that Bahamians will be able to get more information on the audit report.

If everything was so clear cut. There is a reason why a lot of Bahamians at present are suspicious of this referendum. And there is a good reason why the government has not set the date.

I think Dr. Sands is as balanced and level headed as anyone vying for leadership in the FNM. He seems to be pragmatic and this is a lost art in Bahamian politics.

The auditor's findings were completed at the end of March this year. The report had to be leaked in order for the Minister, Dr. Perry Gomez and Chairman Frank Smith to open their mouths. If in fact it was a clerical error, which seems doubtful at this point, why wasn't the Minister or the Chairman able to answer to the report when first asked by the media? It shouldn't take 200 days to review an 82 page report.
