Mr. please go sit down! Yinna does take Bahamian people for fools. We don't want NOR can we handle that virus! Sorry.... non residents need not come. Let me tell you, we are ill prepared for that virus!
Honestly, I don't see how people should expect the government to bring their loved ones home. Who's going to pay for that? Just so people are aware, the United States evacuated its citizens, however, every single one minus the government employees will have to pay the US government for the evacuation flight. In fact they had to sign repayment agreements before being evacuated.
Will families of the Bahamians living in China be prepared to repay the government? I highly doubt it!! This means the Bahamian taxpayers will have to foot the bill. Given our current circumstances, not one dollar more can be alloted to take care of another issue. Did we not just read that we had to borrow some 600 million dollars the other day to make up for the devastation of Dorian? In addition, why should the government bring these people home and not have the capacity to handle them, putting the rest of the population at risk.
I understand the fear that the family members may be experiencing, however, those are the realities of having loved ones living abroad. I suggest that Bahamians in China, follow the instructions of the authorities and stay where they can get the best care and treatment of the disease should they become infected.
If Dr. Minnis can pull off an improvement in the economy and also recovery of Grand Bahama and Abaco, I think he would be given a 2nd term. I do agree with Malcolm Strachan that he needs to focus on what is in front of him rather than on an election that is 2.5 years away. Not that the election is not important, but there are too many things that need fixing. They are still ways off from fixing the ills that plague Bahamian society.
