@Malcolm Strachan, I enjoyed reading your insight again this week, but I do believe that you have gotten it wrong. I don't believe that Brent intended to sabotage the Prime Minister's leadership by discussing the initial conversation on the talk show.
Not sure why people are up in arms over this, an initial conversation had to be started in order to get the negotiations going about the rental of the Post Office. Who else is the Prime Minister going to start the conversation with? He wanted to get a better deal per square footage than was previously negotiated with the PLP. I believe that once that initial conversation was had, Brent indeed stayed out of it, leaving it for debate among his fellow parliamentarians.
I certainly would have preferred to see the post office moved into the old Phil's building because the government owned it. But, after careful thought, I didn't think that the government was capable of maintaining that building in the long run. It would prove to be another dilapidated government building after 5-10 years. Perhaps it was best to rent, and certainly no one could beat $12 per square foot for a rental. Besides, we were losing all around.
The post office staff were being paid for full day shifts when they really were only working a quarter of a day, and also a resolution was needed quickly because they were exposed to all kinds of hazards in that old dilapidated building. Bahamians had not received mail for months, which was a disgrace. These were the number of issues that Minnis was faced with. So as far as I am concerned, the people can make as much noise as they want, the decision to move forward with the post office was fair.
Let see what the people will say when the staff members are back to work full time and they are collecting their mails in a timely manner in a conveniently located spot.
Dr, Sands was asked his opinion while a guest on a radio talk show, and he is probably correct. If the fall out did not happen, BPL probably would have been further ahead. What is the problem with what he said? He didn't call anyone's name or implied anything other than, the controversy was a set back to the corporation. Sue for what? You people really have time to waste on trivial matters!
We need a more educated populace. We are falling too far behind and our ignorance is no longer bliss!
Union bosses again!!! This is why we can't move forward in our country. It's because of this type of ignorance! Wow! So when BTC is no longer profitable and falls into bankruptcy, what is the union going to do then? The workers will no longer have a job! Let me guess the unions will advocate for a government bail out! Smart move!!!!!
@captain Butler, if you are fighting for survival after 2 weeks of no revenue, then I already see that you have bigger issues than an expired AOC! Besides, why would you allow your AOC to expire? You are playing with the safety of your passengers and for that reason alone, I could not see me utilizing your aircraft for travel.
You knew from your AOC was issued that it would expire on June 29th, 2019. Why would you wait until it expired or 30 days before it expired to address whatever issues you were having? Come on man, safety should be of utmost importance to you! We have had too many air tragedies in our country to take such a lax approach.
Sorry that your employees are experiencing hardships because they are not being paid, but to be honest, this is a crisis of your own making. Do better!
The Ministry of Education, should not promote male teachers because of their gender, but should promote men because of their leadership and other qualities which meet the prerequisite for successful candidacy for higher positions.
I do agree that more male figures are needed in positions of leaderships at the school level, but they must be qualified.
