I can give them a financial piece for free. Lets see. $200m investment = $20m for consultants. $20m for back of house. $40m in general conditions and another $20m for miscellaneous contingencies. Leaves $100m divided by $3,000 a sqft to actually build 5 star on a remote island = means they can probably build about 40 x 600 sqft suites plus 13,000 sqft of amenities. Of course knowing the insane cost of doing business on a remote island, they will need to generate at least $200m gross a year to make 10% return on their original investment = they will have to gross an average of $100,000 per week at 100% occupancy every week of the year. Merry Christmas :)
The majority of crime is caused by young men that have lost faith in being able to build a normal way of life for themselves. No hope of a steady job, having a loving family and the respect of the community around them. Is so easy to blame them, or the police, or the politicians but until the entire village that these boys are growing up within - help these young men to find a path of non-violence - it's never going to go away. And in the end, it affects us all badly when the US State Department starts issuing travel warnings for the whole Bahamas. Yes it's easier "said" than "fixed" but we are all guilty of fixating on getting rid of the criminals when there is another generation of young men being neglected right behind these ones
Is bad enough having Bahamian politicians that are elected by the people to serve the people, telling us what to do all day. When are we going to tell these unelected circus clowns at the EU Commission to stop telling us what to do ? They won't stop. So long as you comply with every jacka... idea that these foreign autocrats have, the more inspired they will be to come up with new ones
I hope they are going to base the scorecard against trying to get a bank account set up on the moon ? Can set up a business account in the US in 24 hours and it takes six weeks in the Bahamas....if you lucky !
Oh how quickly this man has started to sound like Papa Doc. Arbitrarily punishing the majority and blaming it on a minority - and joking about it.......
My brother-in-law has had 4 doses of vaccine. FOUR !! He is currently really sick with Covid....and if anyone says it would have been worse if he wasnt vaccinated I am going to scream. The same people who are telling us that the vaccine shelf life can be extended are the same people who promised us that if we got the jab (ONE JAB) we would not contract covid AT ALL and we would NOT spread covid to grandma. At what point are we going to hold these liars accountable ??!!
Don't forget it is most commonly communicated by intimate physical contact (sexual activity) - so this pandemic will see the need for locking us out of our bedrooms and we will probably need Monkeypox Ambassadors to follow us around to make sure we sanitize our private parts and wear protection whenever we are in close proximity to consenting adults
Everywhere in the world (in western democracies) that government health mandates have been challenged in courts, they have been found to be unconstitutional. And Bahamians tossed the FNM out on their behind because of their disregard for the constitution. So why would you encourage the PLP to continue enforcing unconstitutional laws
Whilst I do not disagree with most of what you are saying, You are completely skipping over the human rights violations that China commits on a daily basis (to fellow Chinese) Uyghurs in concentration camps, the current lockdown of Shanghai, the violent suppression of Hong Kong's civil rights movement, the constant hostile threats of invading Taiwan. One of the main reasons that China has been able to focus on infrastructure over the last two or three decades is precisely because the USA has spent 3 trillion dollars trying to make the planet a safer place. We are all horrified at what is going on in Ukraine but if you look back over a couple of geriatric presidents' lives, there are far fewer people dying in wars now than ever before. And I am not aware of any evidence of China contributing to anything peaceful, apart from investing in infrastructure packages that small countries can not afford to pay back - and therefore be beholden to China Have some greedy American corporations and corrupt US politicians taken advantage of the power that the US projects.....probably? Could they be doing a better job at home....probably? However, I think it is very naive to sit back and assume that China or Russia would be doing a better job of preserving your personal rights and freedoms here in the Bahamas or the Soloman Islands. It may not seem fair that someone has to play world policeman - to stop us all from hacking each other to pieces - but am quite sure that if China or Russia was the 'colonial' superpower and you wrote a dissenting piece in the local newspaper, you would not be around the next day to read about it!
